When fighting the final boss of Star Allies, you enter its body and fight its core. The pause screen lore bits explain that Void Termina is reborn into either light or dark forms, depending on whether it is exposed to positivity or negativity respectively. In addition, throughout the fight its appearance shifts to resemble both Dark Matter/Zero and Kirby, and its voice clips are apparently altered versions of Kirby’s.

This heavily implies that both Kirby and Dark Matter are incarnations of an ancient god, and the implications are only reinforced when taking Gooey into account. It says here that he “is made from the same stuff as Dark Matter, but without an evil spirit.” The reason that matters is that he possesses Kirby’s copy abilities, which further implies that while Kirby and Dark Matter are fundamentally different in nature, they share the same basis: Void Termina.
