I may not be as big as I, or even others may want me to be, but...

As I lay here slipping in and out of slumber, I think of all the things that feel possible now because I’m putting energy towards making my dreams a reality.

Being in decade 30 has opened my eyes up to the fact that me and my fellow 30+ year olds are starting to realize we’re adults. The party era (I personally see it as the “consumption slave era”) is coming to a close for many of us. We’re starting to see the world for what it had been all along and we’re understanding exactly how our choices, or mindsets and basically ANY of our actions affect it. For me, personally, I’m turning my attention towards what I want to ADD to the world, and less towards what I can get from this world. It’s a challenge for sure… I’ve witnessed some peers revert to their former selves and re-engage in unhealthy habits for the sake of holding onto their youth. Like trying to return to something they knew before, because everything going forward feels uncertain now. I’m starting to see that this is what every generation of human experiences as they get older too. I feel… it’s better to embrace our growth with grace, rather than lash out and toss ourselves into a stagnant cycle for the sake of nostalgia or F.O.M.O.

There’s something special about being a giving person and being in a relationship with another giving person. You both have this constant reciprocating energy where you’re both giving to one another so neither of you goes completely empty. Neither of you are a drain on the other. Of course there’s still the need to give to ourselves, but there’s this security in knowing that your partner isn’t coming to take any of that away. They just add onto it… and that’s just really nice. It feels like we can safely give to ourselves and to them…
