The Kind of Squad You Notice the Longer You Look
Some miniatures are impressive because they're packed with detail. Others stay with you because they make you wonder what happened before they reached this moment.
This squad feels like the second kind.
The officer looks like someone carrying the weight of too many impossible decisions. The heavy gunner seems built to hold the line for as long as the ammunition lasts. Even the medic doesn't look hopeful. He just looks experienced.
I like miniatures that don't tell you everything. They leave enough space for your own story. Maybe this is the last surviving unit after a failed campaign. Maybe they're crossing a poisoned wasteland in search of a city that no longer exists. Every painter and every tabletop campaign will end up telling a different version.
That is probably my favorite part of the hobby. A model starts as a sculpt, but it becomes something personal once the first layer of paint goes on.
