This is a beautiful dress.
But for some reason, it doesn’t fit my body well. It’s small, too sheer, and too warm.
So I decided to mix it with other pieces that were also unused.
I divided this skirt into two parts along the side seams.
On the pants, I gathered the hem.
Then I attached part of the skirt to the waistband, only on the back. I finished the sides so the fabric wouldn’t fray, and it turned out like this:
Now I fused the other part of the skirt with the dress.
I cut the top part to turn it upside down and made a wrap apron with ties.
For the skirt, I used a third cotton fabric in the same color as a lining for the sheer part, and added an elastic waistband.
But I had to make everything twice!
The first version of the skirt turned out awful. It was completely uneven and way too long.
I ripped out all the seams and started over, adjusting everything little by little, which is why so many fabric scraps were left over.
But the extra work was worth it because it turned out amazing!
An asymmetrical skirt featuring an apron-inspired overlay✨️
I even made a pair of brooches and a rosette brooch with the leftover scraps.
