2 minutes of improvisation to get the creative juices flowing.

You might have heard of Pecha Kucha - the innovative presentation format of 20 images, 20 seconds per slide. This is Pecha Carat, a creative icebreaker to get people actively using their imagination.

Each person in the room gets to present a deck of six images, 20 seconds per image, without knowing what image is coming up next. They have to make up a story, inspired by the images, that connects them all up. Every 20 seconds the slide changes, until the deck finishes.

Everyone gets to play, but make sure you have a different deck each time!

Ideally used as a little splash of humour for breaking up a session, or for a smaller group (four or less), get the session started by playing the game.

Get yourself in to character to unlock different perspectives.

Get a standard deck of Angry Farmers (emotion+audience), shuffle and deal the deck out to the players. Each player gets an emotion and an audience card, which is their Character (i.e. Angry Farmer, Passionate Accountant, Confused Welder).

Go around the group, and on the first round, each player must introduce themselves, a little bit about their life and character.

Then, go around the group again, introducing a problem into the mix, for instance "We need to get more people drinking our beer", and ask the character what would encourage them to drink more beer, get them to talk about what is stopping them currently, and what would entice them to change that.

"Play the character" demonstrates a few things:

- Being a niche member of your audience offers different perspectives on your challenge

- You might make massive assumptions about this member of the audience, which could be right or wrong. Can you back it up?

- Having niche members of an audience forces you to focus on very specific issues
