creative escape

I finally got around to buying new embroidery needles (I snapped the only one I had) so I was finally able to finish up this little ladybug embroidery project. I want to take it out of the hoop and finish it somehow? I’m not sure yet, this is the first embroidery project that I’ve ever done. I’ll figure something out, I want to be able to reuse this little embroidery hoop.

Made some more progress on the digital drawing I started the other night, the one that was inspired by the sunset. This is using the Sketchbook app on my iPad. I’m starting to get used to the program more but, I need to try out more of the brushes and settings.

Another sketch from covering the desk yesterday morning, I doodled some tomatoes on the vine in Sketchbook on my iPad.

I’m covering the desk down at the Arts Centre this morning. Just getting setup to do a little bit of work in my sketchbook. I’m doing a drawing based off a photo of the hazy orange sun that I took on yesterday morning’s walk.

More work on the sky and it’s reflection. I can’t wait to work on this more but I also want to take my time with this painting.

Ideally I’d really like to get this one finished before the end of July. But we’ll see since I’m travelling back to Deep River soon for my Grandpa’s celebration of life.

Some more logo redesign work, also trying to figure out what the new colour scheme is. I’m liking the bottom left colour scheme the most. I think that the logo needs a bit more tweaking but I’m really liking it. I would like my logo to reflect that I’ve been doing more painting.

Last night I was inspired by the sky as the sunlight was fading, so I quickly sketched out the clouds. I’m going to do this digital painting in the Sketchbook app.

A little more work done on the sky, still trying to keep my brushstrokes loose on this painting of the riverside in my hometown of Deep River.

A fellow club member and I are planning on running a workshop on digital art using the Sketchbook app. It’s not a program that I’ve used before so I’ve been trying it out. I’m not sure if I like this app more than Procreate but it’s a pretty good drawing program for being free. A quick, little landscape to practice.

Some black & white (one with a bit of blue) logo design ideas. There’s one or two ideas here that I think I’m going to continue exploring. It’s nice to do some design work again.

I guess one of my next paintings will have to be of a dramatic sky at sunset.

It’s been more than overdue. My last logo was designed in 2014.

I need to pickup a nice frame for it. I’d like to have it on display at my Grandpa’s celebration of life later in July.
