Looking for Alaska by John Green
Summary
Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last wordsāand tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the āGreat Perhaps.ā Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.
Admittedly, Iām not into romance, but this was one of the best books Iāve read. It deals with heavy topics such as potential suicide, depression, smoking, drug use, drinking, etc., and also includes a very light sex scene. For all that you may shy away from these subjects though, I would encourage everyone to try this book. It was extremely eye-opening and felt more real than many other books Iāve read.
