Crazy Yankee Sportfishing

May 24th - Today, we hosted some local (to Rochester) teens who were accompanied by a mother for some Spring Salmon fishing out of Wilson. We gave them all they could handle!

Like yesterday, it took us a minute to figure things out. That East wind has iced out the Lake, but Salmon gotta eat! We had all classes of Chinook Salmon, a Coho Salmon, and a Lake Trout hit the deck today.

May 23rd - Nic and his crew joined us this morning in Niagara County. We knew we had a weather window, and we could get the job done sooner than later. That being said, when we got out on the lake we were faced with East winds and cold clear water. Our experience told us to head West. We found a temp break, and the fish were on it! It came fast and furious!

May 15th - The day before the Wilson Harbor Invitational, Paul drove in from the Albany area to practice with us. Paul fishes with us a few times a year, and he always seems to bring luck.

Imagine, being on a charter by yourself and having to reel in 40 Salmon. Paul must have! Anyways, we found some nice sized Salmon to the East and worked them the whole day.

May 14 (afternoon) - Ron and his crew joined us for the afternoon trip. It had been a few years since they fished with us. Luckily, they were local, so when I called after getting in from the morning trip they only needed an hour to assemble and get to the boat. They were greeted with more amazing Salmon fishing, and it didn't take us long to fill the Grizzly. We took a few nicer fish on the afternoon trip too!

May 9th - These two guys, Nick and Phil, were our first charter clients way back in 2007! Boy do we have some memories, and we talked about those over some great fishing yesterday afternoon. Nick brought up his daughter and her husband to fill up the boat. This being her first time, she was first up on the rods. It took all of about 5 minutes!

May 2/3 - We had Jesse and his crew out yesterday afternoon and this morning chasing Spring Kings in Niagara County. There was no shortage of action for these guys, and we tried to be selective putting back smallish Salmon. Yesterday afternoon our biggest that hit the deck went 14lbs. This morning we had a 17 and 14 pound specimen.

May 2nd - Chris and his family joined us this morning to chase Lake Ontario's Spring Kings in Niagara county. Shortly after pushing off the dock, we were met with an angry lake. We took our time getting out to the fish, and it was a struggle to get lines in. You didn't need to be good to fill the box. The fishing was that good!

At one point our high diver rod started throbbing, and a few minutes later we slid the net under a 21lb Lake Trout. That fish ended up being the big Lake Trout of the day, and a few ounces short of 1st place.

April 19th - Adam drug his posse up from Cleveland, OH to fish with us this morning. This was our last "Brown Trout" charter from the Port of Rochester. It'll be Kings on the Niagara Bar next!

The bite was very good, and we grabbed three King Salmon to compliment our Brown Trout. We've had an unbelievable Brown Trout bite this Spring, but it looks like there are some healthy Salmon around.

April 18th (afternoon) - Saturday afternoon Nic and Keith joined us for a Brown Trout charter, but those pesky King Salmon kept getting in the way 🤣. Had I known these two were into Kings that much we probably would have run a completely different program once we figured out there were active Salmon in the water we were in (we fished new water than we've been in the last few weeks).

These guys were tickled pink in the short trip they had. We knew some weather was coming, so we boxed our limit and got off the lake before we all got wet.

April 18th - This morning, Joe brought his kids, father, and a buddy he grew up with to experience Lake Ontario Brown Trout Fishing, and that they did! These guys drove in from Pittsburgh yesterday, and left with some great memories.

Our morning started with a feisty King and some small Brown Trout. We eventually dialed in the area and put a beating on the population. Today, it was all about finding the "right" water color. Not too dirty, any not too clean.

April 12th (afternoon) - Yesterday afternoon we had a crew from Central NY. Tom booked the trip and fishes Lake Ontario often. He grabbed a buddy and his son to experience what Rochester has to offer in the Spring.Of course we went back to the waters holding the Kings, but all we could muster up were Brown Trout for the duration of the trip. That is until #9 hit the Grizzly. We broke out the fillet table to carve up their catch of Brown Trout, and Mr. Chinook decides to show his face. We grabbed a quick picture and back he went.

April 12th - Day 2 with Tommy and his crew from Georgia was as good as it gets this time of year. They had two days where they were absolutely spoiled with fantastic Brown Trout fishing, and the presence of Spring Kings.

Today we started with a Spring King on the setup, and late morning we experienced a double on Kings. These guys got worn down, and they're headed back to the South with plenty of fresh fillets.

April 11th - Today was Day 1 of Tom, and his family from Georgia, chasing Lake Ontario Brown Trout. We've fished with these guys for many many years, and it's always a great time.

We left the dock after 6:30am (because we all know Southern people can't be on time), and we were pleasantly surprised with a box of King Salmon and Brown Trout before pulling lines around 10:30am.

April 4th - Kurt joined us this morning accompanied by his daughter and brother. They're local to the area, and Kurt has fished with us in the past for Salmon. However, he wanted to try out this amazing Brown Trout fishery we're blessed with in the Spring.

We got a good morning of fishing in before the East winds kicked up and made the lake a little bumpy. That's when Kurt's daughter had enough, but by that time the damage was done! They reeled and reeled until their arms were tired. This trip will be engrained into their memories for a while to come.

April 3rd - This morning we checked off a Bucket List fishing experience for these guys! They drove in from the state of Michigan to experience our Spring Brown Trout fishery, and we spoiled them. The kid was a rod hawg, and wouldn't leave the Chinook Diver because that rod was hot.

March 29th - The first charter on the Tiara in 2026 went well today 🎣

Tommy and Timmie brought up some FNG's to chase after Lake Ontario Brown Trout. These guys have horseshoes (you know where) when it comes to big fish. We got blown off yesterday, so we had to make today count. If you click the link in the comments you'll see our video fishing report from today, and how we ended up on some better fish.

March 22nd - We had three buddies (that went to high school together over in Syracuse) fish with us today. They found us from our YouTube channel, and decided to book a charter. Speaking of that channel, a video fishing report is posted there, and we'll link that in the comments below.

We beat on the browns most of the day, and had some quality specimens. These three were pretty stoked about how the day went, and for the most part they were pretty good on the rods 😁.
