Not Sure

My hibiscus is going to bloom again sometime in the next week and a half or so. This is probably my second favorite flower, and I feel like it’s also probably one of the few plants I own that I could get more of without adding too much extra work for myself.

I don’t think I’ll ever stop being amazed by all the different types of plants that can grow in this climate. I haven’t lived here my whole life, but I did spend my childhood here, and I still feel like I’ll never know if it was just me and my “learning curve” in figuring out how to grow things, or if I really did notice climate change over the past 30 years. All I know is that I attempted to grow lemon trees in probably about 1992-1993 in this same area, but couldn’t even get them to sprout.

A few years ago, I found an old magazine article from 1989 or 1990 (my family saves everything, and I come from a long line of gardeners) that said this area was zone 7b. I’m not sure when the change happened, but we’re now considered zone 9a.
