You Are All I Need (Ikerev)
A/N: This is how I imagine my oc’s “Say I Do” event to go and the bolded part is where I imagine the CG to be in (titled “It’s The Best We Can Do”). Alice has some different characteristics but I still kept some of her key traits from canon
It was another busy day for me. I spent most of my time preparing a wedding cake that I didn’t even realize it was so late already. The shop was closed by the time I finished baking the cake which I’ve been working on for a bit more than a month, now.
I met the couple a few months ago to discuss how they wanted their cake to look like. I’ve made customized cakes for different occasions before, but they weren’t as extravagant as this one. They wanted a four tier silver cake with roses carved at the bottom of each level, and for the icing to be decorated like draped fabric. It was something new to me, so I worked really hard to make it perfect. I did a lot of trial and error on the decorations before I found something that worked. The cake since it turned out way better than I imagined it to look.
“Um, Miss Alice...” one of the chefs whispered my name. “Are you done with the cake? I need you to leave so I can lock the shop.”
“Oh, I’m sorry to keep you waiting! Please help me move this!”
Some workers helped me store the cake away. I apologized once again for making them stay over time before we went our separate ways. I called a carriage to bring me back to headquarters.
I stepped down and noticed that headquarters was already dark. Probably everyone has gone to bed already. It is pretty late after all. When I got my hold on the doorknob, a familiar man already opened the door for me from inside.
“You only got home now?” Nikola asked, a look of concern on his face.
“Well, I’ve been working.” I responded. “And how did you know I was coming?”
“I was waiting for you here and saw you approaching so I opened the door for you.” He added, “We can talk more after you clean up.”
After preparing myself for bed, I asked Nikola to visit my room so I can talk to him properly.
“So it’s the cake you’ve been working on.” He responded before taking a sip from his wine glass. “I was about to look for you myself if you didn’t arrive that moment.”
“I’m sorry for making you worry.”
“I know you work hard but you have to remember to stop when you’ve been going on non-stop.”
Silence fell between us. My eyes were focused on Nikola who was drinking wine next to me. Even silent moments like these feel special somehow. A smile started to creep up my face as I recalled how much I love him.
“Is there more you want to say?” He asked placing the now empty glass on the table.
“Oh, nothing, really...” I stuttered. “I was just thinking about how much I love you.”
“Then that’s not ‘nothing’” He teased.
He then leaned forward to give me a soft kiss on the lips. “I love you, too.”
Nikola stood up from the couch, took the glass, took one last look at me before leaving. I stayed on the couch touching the parts where his warmth still lingered. I could still feel the warmth of his lips on mine and the gentle touch of his hand on my cheek. I slept well after that, hoping that the next days will keep getting better.
Two days later, the cake was ready to be delivered when we found out the couple cancelled the order last minute.
“This was all a waste!” I sulked.
“That was rude of them to cancel last minute...” I heard one of the workers say.
“They even asked for a full refund!” Another worker added. “We were preparing all month for nothing!”
“Excuse me, Miss Alice,” the head chef called hesitantly. “What will we do with the cake?”
I kept my head down and replied in an almost whisper, “Just store it for now. Maybe someone more deserving will want to buy it.”
I was so frustrated and disappointed in myself. I never thought this was going to happen to me. I felt like I wasn’t take seriously. There were just so many emotions to handle that tears started flowing out of my eyes.
“I think I need some fresh air.” I mumbled.
After taking a long stroll around central, I was starting to feel a little better. My tears dried up and I calmed down a bit, but I was still feeling frustrated. I can’t let this one incident get the better of me. Things like this happen and I shouldn’t get too worked up about it. I decided to take a longer, less crowded route back to the shop. Along the way, I spotted Nikola running out of a dress store with a large box in hand. What was he doing in there? Could it be-
I arrived back in headquarters mid afternoon and was greeted by both Seth and Sirius. They said there was a surprise waiting for me in my room and they seemed a little excited over. When I got there, I found a present box wrapped in silver paper on top of my bed. I opened it to find a beautiful white dress that was layered with lace and sheer to give it more detail. I flipped it around to find a ribbon tied at the back around the waist line, and pink ruffles on the sleeves to give it a bit of color. There was also a pair of light pink heals and white earrings that came with the dress. Inside the box, there was also a short note that read
A carriage will arrive to pick you up at sunset to take you to one of my favorite places. I’ll be waiting for you there.
The coachman dropped me off in the black territory resort, the place Nikola brought me to in one of our earlier dates. I still remember our time spent here, how we just relaxed and chatted like nothing else mattered. I was still not sure what exactly he wanted us to do here, but I was excited for whatever it will be. One of the staff approached me the moment I reached the entrance. She led me to the resort gardens which was filled with many trees and lights. It was such a beautiful place that I took my time admiring the view. Now I know why you love this place. It’s so pretty! I eventually reached the inner part of the garden where I was greeted by a familiar silver cake, sitting on a round table.
I felt a hand reach to hold mine and I knew exactly who it belonged to.
He gave me a gentle smile and squeezed my hand tighter. We both continued towards the table where the cake sat where a knife, two forks, and a plate was prepared for us. Everything about this moment just felt so perfect it didn’t feel completely real.
“Nikola,” I spoke his name. “I really appreciate this but I’m wondering why you’re doing this for me.”
His expression suddenly changed. “I heard about what happened earlier from one of the chefs. You really didn’t deserve that kind of treatment. No one does.”
He continued, “You were clearly upset, and I wanted to cheer you up.”
“I asked the chef to show me the wedding cake you’ve been working on, and it’s just too beautiful to go to waste, so I bought it.”
“This was when I went out, right?”
“It was, so I asked them to bring the cake here and book the place for me while I went shopping for your outfit.”
“I’ll have to thank them tomorrow, then.” I said. “This really is a lot...”
A tear suddenly slid down my eye and it was followed by more. I covered my face and turned away.
Nikola wrapped his arms around me from behind in a warm and tight embrace. My heart started skipping at the feel of his touch. In response, I turned around and returned the embrace, pouring all my love for him into it. We stayed like that for a while before letting go.
“I’m sure those tears are of joy.” He spoke breaking the silence. “We should go have a taste of your hard work.”
We both took the knife and cut a slice together. It wasn’t as perfect as I hoped it will be, but Nikola didn’t seem to mind.
“You probably need to practice your cake cutting skills.” I joked.
“I don’t want to.” Nikola responded. “I like the way we cut it.”
“It’s not perfect, just like our love. Actually, there’s no love that’s perfect.”
He continued, “We’ll always have ups and downs, not everything is going to be bright and happy.”
He held his fork to my mouth and I ate the cake on it. The sweet and rich flavor of the white chocolate filled my mouth and I savored it longer than I normally would with other sweets.
“This is so good!” I exclaimed.
“That’s because you worked so hard on it.”
I took another bite off his fork as he continued to speak, “Our relationship is not perfect, but I’m happy with it.”
“I’m happy with it, too!”
We continued to feed each other until we finished the slice.
“I’m not perfect but I promise to do what’s best for you.” He whispered in my ear.
“And I’ll do the same for you!”
Later that night, some staff arrived to return the cake in the box and to clean the table. While they were doing that, Nikola and I were sitting under one of the trees cuddling.
“Thank you for this evening.” I spoke warmly. “I’ll cherish this night forever.”
“I’m happy as long as you are.” He replied. “And I promise you when we get married, I will give you more than what I gave tonight.”
“I’m already looking forward to it!” I beamed.
“You might have to wait a few years.”
“I don’t mind! I’m sure it will be worth the wait.”
He started stroking my hair so I moved closer to him, and we stayed like that, until we both fell asleep under the bright lights.
