my favorite part of “So High School” is that is sounds like a song that would be in a coming of age high school movie in the 2000s, especially the intro

the connection between “but the woman who sits by the window has turned out the light” in peter and “remember looking at this room, we loved it ‘cause of the light / now, i just sit in the dark and wonder if it’s time” in you’re losing me has me spiralling

“And so I was out of the oven//And into the microwave//Out of the slammer and into a tidal wave” is actually the key to understanding the entire album and why it’s unclear which song is about which man

This album is about how two men broke her heart just months apart and how she was quite literally going through a mental breakdown while trying to put on a front while performing for millions of people on a world tour but you wouldn’t know that because you’re either so caught up in trying to figure out who each song is about or your so caught up in your hate for her that you’d rather make fun of her in her most vulnerable, raw, and honest state just to make yourself feel better

the album is brutally honest, satirical, a bit cringe here and there, depressing and experimental at the same time, I would not side eye anyone for saying "I don't understand this" or "this isn't my cup of tea" or even "what the fuck is this" because it's obviously not a 1989 or midnights kind of album for everyone. I understand why she said she "had to put this out" but while she is at the peak of her career, she released an album that is not for beginners nor really for overall critics, it's knees deep into the taylor swift lore and probably the most herself an album has ever been, that does not mean it is a masterpiece but it makes it so insanely special

i couldn’t have found a normal artist to enjoy it just had to be this freak
