The Sun Goes Down

Gojyo ignored the previous insult in favor of what Sanzo said next and noticed that she immediately treated his wounds more gently after he’d cursed in pain. He was tempted to tease her, something along the lines of ‘I just wanted your hands on my body’ but he wisely chose a different route. 

“Sorry I wasted your precious time, your holy highness.”

Different didn’t mean better.

She was glad that he wasn’t making an awkward situation even more so. Brows furrowed slightly, and her teeth tugged on her bottom lip, working it until it was red.

“What the hell were you even doing, to get hurt like this? What kind of moron are you?”

Should he push his luck? He could tell Sanzo was still obviously extra pissy. Well, he might as well since he’d already been whacked in the head moments earlier for doing nothing but existing. 

“Technically, it would be deeper than six feet since I’m taller than that.”

“Who the fuck gets buried standing upright?!”

“Always? Isn’t that a bit harsh?”

Gojyo gritted his teeth with a grimace. Shit, it hurt, but he didn’t want to be a little bitch about it so he finally held still and let Sanzo do her thing. Despite the pain, he still caught the tremble in her voice and he allowed himself a private smile before he flinched and cursed in pain as she got to a particularly sensitive spot.

“Careful, Sanzo. I might start to think you actually care.”

Of course he had to tease.

"Always is accurate."

She released her clutch on his shoulder, brows furrowing. Now that he was sitting still, she could take care of the injury easier. It seemed she noticed the sensitivity, her touch softened. Nima made sure to take care in being more gentle while tending the injuries.

At her response, crimson gaze flicked down to notice Sanzo’s fingers tightening around the rolled up offender, Gojyo held up his hands in surrender and took a safe step back. 

“Contrary to popular belief, no, not really.”

She raised an eyebrow as he took a step back. Well at least it seemed he got the point of his stupidity... hopefully?

“Really, cause it sounds to me like you really want to be buried six feet under.”

“Maybe, just maybe, I wouldn’t be so rough IF. You weren’t always being so stupid.” 

“The fuck?” Gojyo looked at her as if she’d grown a second head or something. Then a look of understanding came over his features. 

“Oh, I get it. You must be on your period.”

Aaaand there it was, the exact reason he needed the preemptive whack. An eyebrow twitched as she glared at the red-head.

“Yeah, and you must want to die.”

“You’re irritating me, that’s what it was for.”
