Grime X Blendabeat, the continuation of the "Contact Project" beat series. What inspired "Contact Project Wolf Bites"? Starch I set out to craft a crisp and sharp sound that clapped off your ears with the swiftness. In my head, I was in Jamaica. I had the image of an ironing board, a bottle of spray starch, and a pair of pants that needed to catch peoples' attention instantly. Hops Hops was directly inspired by my days of coaching basketball with CIA Bounce in Brampton. I see this as being the soundtrack to a sizzle reel of high-flying dunks and jumps or air time in general. Header This is my direct nod to the Brothers and Sisters in England. I know they love them some football, so I aimed for something bouncy with a funky groove. Cloud On lonely days, I'd look out of my window in my Brampton home and wish to touch the clouds. Some days, I'd just go for sprints in the field just to be closer to nature. This instrumental is my attempt at recreating digital clouds in an audible sense. Suit Up At the time of creating these Wolf Bites, I was having conflict with a family member quite regularly. We've all dealt with issues with family. Each day felt like another battle. I often felt like I had to be prepared for anything. In the end, it wasn't that bad, but I aimed to create a sound that embodied rising tension, like how alarms affect us, and unpredictability. Commit I was at my wits' end with making the Wolf Bites; however, I knew I had more stamina in me to create something unique and I knew I had to exploit the KORG DS-10's 6-sound maximum to hit a new level of creative use. I challenged myself to use the music tool and some effects in a new way. Commit represents steadfastness and courage. Fabric During a conversation with my sister about putting some finishing touches in and around my studio, we started to discuss some colours and decorations. She's a home decor specialist, so I asked her if she'd choose some colours and textures for fabric that I wanted to have cover my sound panels. Once we hung up, I left that in her hands and immediately went on to produce Fabric. My aim was to create something with a nice bop that was plush yet tough, somehow fabric-like. Contact Project Wolf Bites was always intended to be an instrumental album for DJs and MCs to use creatively. I'm excited to hear how others use these instrumentals in their own creative ways.
