Carol Danvers

“I could relate, but I really don’t give two fucks about your own problems Carol. Everyone has shit going on. Get your ass up and take one yourself  from the shelf”

Carol shared a b*tch please face and stared at her, really not in the mood for taking “advises” from that type of person or actually anyone. “So you’re really not giving me back this bottle?” She asked with no jokes, more menacing than anything. 

Jess lost all color in her face.  “Chew —-er….well….mhhh…..”  She hesitated. How bad could it be….she did it once …kind off …she threw food at him and ran.  “Suuuuure ? “she agreed but still wasn’t sure at all she could survive it. That cat was scary.

“Don’t do me that face, it went all well last time right? Plus she loves ya.” Yeah definitively, Carol could almost believe her own lie.

“Fight me ….weren’t you supposed to be sober or something?”

“Don’t tempt me.” She retorqued maybe a little bit too seriously. “And I was, but then green aliens for whom I'm genetically disturbed to be pissed at, arrived, one told me that my mentor was killed, and to know if he lied or not I need to go in space with a ship that I don’t have, so give me this fucking bottle.” 

The very cheesiness of her statement was not lost and him and it made him laugh a bit. “Oh, no, I’m never going to forget that, Carol. I will remind you of that every chance I can get. Especially on this trip.” He figured that was clear enough, but he might as well make it a little clearer for her. “Of course, I’ll come with you. Where are we going?”

“Oh god.” She chuckled with him and raised her head to look at him with an almost serious expression. “You heard nothing.” She tried, her hand doing the Jedi movement to go with her words, sadly with no effect. “Hey! Try I’ll be forced to kick your ass.” She retorqued, an accusing finger pushing him with the perfect ratio of superhuman strength. But beside her quick response, she realized and smiled when he clarified his statement. “Somewhere in the Large Magellanic Cloud?”

“Your cat hates me,” he replied dryly. “And I have Lucky with me 24/7 until….” he paused because the reason why Lucky was with him was because the family was still missing and so was Kate. With no one else to watch Lucky, he had him until everything was set right. “Ask Jess. I’m sure she’ll look after him for you.”

“She doesn’t, she has her own way to share her love.” Carol justified but didn’t push any further for the rest. “Him? Yeah, definitively I’ll ask her.” She judged but found a smile, her question still worthed the try.  

“ask away”

Carol hesitated on her question, because it was a delicate one, because somehow her ego told her to shut up, something she finally decided to do, asking something else instead. “Keep Chewie for me?” She tried while taking a deep breath to forget what she really had in mind.

He may not be an actual scientist, but he was still an engineer and he had a few ideas on how to upgrade his system. No offense to the great Hank Pym, but the tech was old school. He just had to cross the right wires without frying his fingertips….again. It was delicate and required full concentration….

Because Carol had to delay her trip in space bloody grants and elections, she was trying to occupy her mind and hands far from any bottles in her wait. And that was how she arrived next to the focused man. “Guess mask and gloves are for the weaks?” 

Rhodey waited as patiently as he could to hear what it was that would keep Carol around. He liked having her around, for more than one reason, so the idea of her running off, or flying off, wasn’t one he was super keen on. She’d been the one to try and cheer him up after Wakanda. That moment had meant a lot to him. He was hoping she would say something, but instead, it seemed actions spoke louder than words. He was actually taken aback by what happened. Not because he was repulsed by it. He was shocked, but in a good way. “Wow…” he said in response, unsure of what else to say. “I can get behind that reason.”

Clint shrugged. There may have been a time where Clint would have attempted to persuade her out of it, but he couldn’t blame her for wanting to get away. He felt the same, but he didn’t think it was a good idea right now. “Do what you need to. I won’t stop you.”

“Thaaanks ?” She guessed, unsure but not pushing it because yeah she definitively had to do that, despite the consequences that the truth could do. “And can you keep my cat while I’m gone?” She tried, because who knew? Maybe he could be a fool to agree.

“That’s hurtful, speeches are supposed to be my thing.” Phil said first before he added “I will, eventually, but you know I’m just concerned about you, I know you can handle pretty much everything that’ll come your way but old habits die hard I guess. Just promise me you’ll be careful out there, okay?”

Carol almost chuckled at his reply, a little more and she will feel sorry. She raised an eyebrow at his request and couldn’t help it but smiled. “Fine, I will. But promise me to keep an eye on Jess for me.”

“Okay. Have a good trip.”

Okay, that was suspicious af. “Really?”

She hugged her back.  “I can’t, you know that. “ she whispered and put her chin on her shoulder. “Sex aliens like you,  how am I going to stay faithul ? Can’t risk it”

“Mhh, you have a lucky man.” She hugged tight. “Hey, I need to ask you something.”

Rhodey shifted as much as he could on his crutches, staring at Carol. “One thing? Can I know what that one thing is?”

Rhodey stood there in a little bit of shocked silence as Carol prattled on. “There really is no swaying you, is there?” he asked, leaning against the crutches as he stood before her.

Carol may have tried to hide her little smile when she saw this familiar face and she may have failed... “Well, maybe there is one thing.”

Jessica remained quiet and deadpanned.  “I wasn’t going to keep you here, asshole. I appreciate having goodbyes this time and brought you this.  “ she handed her a bag , a big which contained Starwars comics, Starwars DVDs , a solar powered DVD player, snacks a lot of them , a teddy bear version of Chewie , condoms , underwear , deodorant. 

Carol frowned but took the bag and slowly discovered it. She dropped it, to better hug her best friend in respond. “Come with me.”
