A designation of nescient applies to corporeal SCPs whose anomalous properties are either non-apparent or remain dormant without direct interaction.
Having no latent desire to breach containment themselves, the majority of nescient SCPs can be secured more readily than other designations. Note that the potential threat level posed is just as wide ranging.
Cryptids, Entities, Cognizents
The zoetic designation covers any SCP which either displays or imitates the autonomy seen in living organisms. A designation of zoetic is made regardless of whether the SCP is ‘alive’ in strict biological terms.
The inherent unpredictably of such SCPs, particularly those which demonstrate a degree of sentience and/or sapience, poses particular problems to secure containment.
Buildings, Regions, Portals
This designation pertains to SCPs that consist of or are confined to a particular locale or area. This may be a structure, a spatial/dimensional breach or a region whose extent is determined by the SCP’s anomalous effects.
By their nature, locus SCPs cannot be contained in the usual sense, and must be secured on site.
Memes, Conjectures, Occurrences
Axiom designations are applied to SCPs which are memetic or conceptual in nature, whose anomalous properties primarily manifest through or are experienced by the human consciousness.
As they can occur spontaneously within the civilian populace such instances are almost impossible to contain, often necessitating retroactive damage control.
