Hello there!! This is going to be a pretty basic Tumblr intro, but I want to get something out there :)

- Names: You can call me Michael, James or Jonathan, and any variations thereof :)

- Pronouns: I use He/Him and It/Its pronouns!! I may also use plural pronouns sometimes. I'm weird like that /lh

- Identities: I am oriented-aroace, bi and transmasc!! Labels are weird, so if you ever have questions, feel free to ask :)

- Interests: I have many, MANY interests, but my main interests are ASOIAF, TESV: Skyrim, Star Trek, Meteorology, Harry Potter and TMA

- Boundaries: No NSFW questions, and please be aware that I'm mostly oblivious to tone over the internet. I will use tonetags on occasion to clarify my meaning

i rewatch a bones episode every single day (random order, i read the episode descriptions and find the one i like most.) but sadly i cannot watch seasons 10-12 because sweets is dead there, and i usually do watch earlier seasons but sometimes idont want to watch season 4 because zack JUST left soooooo. hhehrgnthfhrh. later seasons are okay. season 8 is my favorite because that’s where sweets lives with his parents (dr brennan and booth THEY ADOPTED HIM.)

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

it's probably from assholes making asks a minefield of trolling/harassment for years with no real blocking ability, which turned people off from allowing asks on their blogs so as a whole the site moved away from it

but now that we do have better blocking, we should try to revive it.

have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

i love how white people are supposed to be graciously forgiven for having a racist past because "they were kids and didn't know any better" but no one gives a flying fuck about the black kids that were subjected to brutal racist bullying during their childhoods. bullying that we're still subject to today because nothing has changed. white people were not being racist to some amorphous, unfeeling entity in some vacuous, isolated section of the internet, they were hurling slurs, racist "jokes"/imagery and antiblackness at REAL ACTUAL CHILDREN while gaslighting and mocking us for being upset, and no one gives a fuck!! we're just supposed to forgive these people who are never sorry and never will be and if not we're the problem and im so sick of it
