Hello. If you like a vampire story that isn't so much like a vampire story, I hope you check this out. I'd be really grateful if you read it.

That’s just the thing, even from a storytelling point of view it’s still bad. Wouldn’t it be more exciting to see them putting up this really clever stalwart defense? You know like have vast fortifications built, multiple lines of defense, with the defenders pulling all kinds of sly tricks and traps? The wights are getting caught in murder zones where they reign arrows and fireballs on them. Wights are mindless running into pitfalls, moats, and other traps. Dothraki are conducting deadly flanking maneuvers on their horses. But regardless of how much punishment they can dish out the wight numbers are too much and they have to fall back. One by one they grind the defenders down and the good guys have to fall back again and again, from one well prepared redoubt and defensive position to the next one by one until eventually they are in Winterfell keep and have no where else to go. After all the White Walkers and their wight minions are an allegory for death and no matter what you can do, no matter how strong and well prepared your defenses you can only forestall death. That would seem like a much more exciting battle.

That’s the thing that’s so pathetic about it. They had all this time to prepare and those were the fortifications they created? What have they been doing all this time? I would have at least three redoubts of defenses surrounding Winterfell that looked something like this…
