Heirloom: something that has been passed down through family generations. Sometimes we get stuck with pieces that are beat-up, dated and mis-matched, but we just can't bare the thought of changing them because somehow, the memory of the person before us will get lost. I'm a firm believer that those people would much rather have you enjoy what's been passed down, rather than preserving the original and hating it. Change is good! I know, some of you might be thinking ‘PURPLE’? I hummed and hawed over which 'perfect’ and 'trendiest’ colour I should paint our new dining room bench, but to be honest, our family loves purple.
