Yeah, it’s on–it’s on before he’s even processed a word Beat’s said. So suffice to say, it’s only when he’s turned to squint at the menu that he realizes he has absolutely no idea what a single yen is let alone a thousand of ‘em. But if Beat’s putting a thousand of them on the line, it’s gotta be important, right? ‘cause obviously, he really thinks he can do this! Well, he’s got another thing coming! So let’s see here… gotta be something doughy… Doughy, doughy, doughy…

       ❝ That. ❞ he says suddenly, pointing and sounding more than a little smug.

          Admittedly, though not aloud, he obviously didn’t think this through. When they walked into the café, his eyes had been drawn to the pieces of cakes, the doughnuts, the jelly cups, the soft serves– the foods he could down in mere chomps with strategic bite sizes and chewing techniques to accompany his dessert-to-saliva ratio (and trust that Beat had had years of rigorous training to get as good as he was). What he didn’t account for was the presence of a certain treat, on the far-right board of the menu that he hadn’t bothered reading in its entirety. Dread filled him to his very core when he followed the finger and saw that it was pointing to… the mochi. And the look on Sora’s face told him that he knew exactly what kind of challenge he had just put forth.

    At this point, it wasn’t about the money. This was a matter of a dude’s pride. It may not have been much, but his ability to eat quickly was one of his few recognised talents, and he was not about to sacrifice all he’s worked for in a dumb bet! Even if the bet was his idea… hmph! With an indignant huff, he stubbornly marched right up to the counter and ordered a plate, the coins stuck to his sweaty palms as he paid. Dessert in hand, he gestured to a free table with a flick of his head and plopped himself down, staring at the thick… doughy… chewy… oh, shit… he needed to buy himself more time and think about what he was gonna do... not that he had ever been much of a thinker, either. Damn it! Wiping his hands nervously across the sides of his shorts, he flicked his gaze up at Sora.

    ❝Yo… so, uh, Sora–❞  …yeah dude, good start, keep it coming…                 ❝have… you… everrrrr, uh…❞ …smack ‘im with it! 

     Scratching at his chin absent-mindedly, Beat squinted as he stared up at the menu board. ❝A’ight, it’s gon’ go like this--❞, he began, fixing balled fists onto his hips as he turned to face the person beside him.
