Okayokayokay... So, I'm still not off my new hyperfixation yet 😔, but! It did give me a new idea.
This is gonna be for a very, very, very select subset of people (I see @one-step-at-a-time25 in both the Smosh and AoS tags 👀), I fear, so I apologize in advance.
But uh.... AoS s7, how the team jumped from the OG timeline? Let's just say they jump from timeline to timeline as well, to make my thought work.
And they end up in the diabolical timeline where Sarah Christ exists (I'm already giggling to myself. Let me have this).
(also, putting the entire thought under the cut to not clog up everyone's feed 🫶🏻)
So, Sarah -- this poor, sopping wet cat of an ex detective -- her whole thing is to find the Creekside Killer, right? He's evaded her since forever, her marriage broke up over it, her daughter hates her for it, she lost her badge at one point, etc, etc.
What if the team drops in and sees this (literally) sopping wet ex detective and that's the whole point of them dropping into this specific place and time in the timeline? They gotta help Sarah Christ identify and find the Creekside Killer. And for silly haha universe reasons, if she doesn't catch CSK, the world will blow up. The most diabolical Rube Goldberg machine type of situation. So they have to help her stop it from happening, and get CSK to save all of humanity in this timeline.
But, they know better. Spending two seconds with Sarah, they know they gotta make her believe that she caught him herself with minimal assistance. So behind the scenes, the team gathers evidence to identify and locate him, while simultaneously low-key pushing her in the correct direction to find him. It takes time, but they get there eventually.
And because this is silly haha universe, Sarah loves spending time with May, her stoic, no nonsense personality a familiar and comfortable vibe. Unfortunately, May hates this, but at least they're usually chilling with a drink in hand, so it's somewhat tolerable.
Something about Coulson pisses her off, but since his charisma stat block has always been at max, she also likes him for some reason... And she can't help but trust him after a short while.
At one point, she calls Simmons, "Poptart," unironically. The hair on the back of May's neck stands up for no reason in particular.
And to give May a reprieve, he sits with Sarah, a glass of his whisky next to her vodka coffee. He asks if she's got kids. She confirms, a daughter who denies she's even her mother, and she gives pause.
And as much as she likes this silly-but-also-serious kid, Sarah has a hard time being around Daisy. Something strikes a chord in her that feels a little too close to home.
Coulson clocks this because of course he does.
"Is there ever a chance I could get my daughter back?" This makes Coulson think back to the events of post s3 into s4.
"I'd like to believe there's always a chance. But... It's going to have to be her choice. If you force it, she might resent you for it." He can see her gears turning as she grips her mug. "You just have to keep a door open for her. If it's open, she'll find it." Sarah chews on his words a little longer.
"Speaking from experience?"
"Essentially, yeah."
"Hmph. Teenagers, am I right?"
"Something like that."
Fast forward to right before catching CSK, Cassie does reunite with her mom. Sarah catches CSK, and the world doesn't blow up. The team helps make sure there's no way he'll ever go free ever again. Sarah catches up with the team before they need to leave. Thanks them. Makes some offhanded comment to Coulson about his, "wife and daughter," thus enforcing the 'everyone on the outside thinks philindaisy is actually a family,' joke. On the Zephyr, Coulson is talking with May about Sarah as they jump, dropping the question about, "how was her hair wet all the time???" May just groans and goes, "Don't. Ask."

Seeing Angela learn stuff as of late has been my number one serotonin maker, so I very much appreciate Simmons teaching her all the things.
Cassie and Daisy meeting sounds so chaotic. Daisy just being, "This kid is the same as her mom, holy crap." And what if Cassie sees Daisy and Coulson or Daisy and May interact? What then? Is she gonna long for a repaired relationship with her mother and give it an unknowingly mutual shot (bc we know that seeing Daisy interact with her parents Coulson and May would probably give Sarah hope)???
Sarah connecting with May on the level of, "something super traumatic happened to me that made me the way I am now," is so eijfkfforjnejdjkfkfkfjndns. I dunno why I didn't see that when it was right in front of my face.

the empty vial of centipede serum just laying on the ground. this show is diabolical. the adrenaline wearing off and it sinking in that she took the serum and not coulson. that he chose to save her life over his own.

So telling that when Skye is shot and dying, it’s May who goes rogue to beat the crap out of Quinn. Not Ward, her SO who blames himself. Not Coulson who sees so much potential in her. Not Fitz who gave her the last Night Night gun to try and protect her. Not Simmons who broke down trying to keep Skye alive during transfer. May. Who at this point has a tense relationship with Skye. And it’s not because May blames herself, she was getting tortured then rescuing Coulson and Ward while Skye was in danger. It’s because May doesn’t know what she will become if something breaks her a second time. Fitz, Simmons, and Skye are often referred to as kids by the rest of the team. They’re young. They’re not used to almost dying yet. May almost lost another child she was trying to protect.
Usually when a character is extremely traumatised you want them to have a beach episode. Except for Phil Coulson, who already had a beach episode and that's 90% of the reason why he's extremely traumatised

This greeting has been sitting in the back of my brain, and I'm slightly convinced that in some other universe, Coulson has said this to Daisy at some point, coupled with a tight embrace because you know he would if he wasn't so bashful with calling her his kid to her face.
"Doomed yaoi" this "doomed yuri" that what about doomed found family. What about finding comfort in these new people after going through so much on your own—a community, a solace, a home to come back to. Caring for them with all you've got, only to realize that it wasn't going to work, ever, no matter what you tried. Only to have it ripped apart, no matter how much you tried to hold them close. Found family that becomes lost family. Found family that takes your heart with it when they go.
