16 Functions of the Male Foreskin (broken into very specific functions from the main function categories of: protective, sexual/erotogenic, immunological, and sensory functions):

1) Erotic pleasure via the ridged band and Meissner’s corpuscles [See: The Ridged Band- Specialized Sexual Tissue, http://research.CIRP.org/ ]

2) Stores pheromones and releases them on arousal [Not only stores pheromones, but releases them into the air as the foreskin is retracted. An alert intact man has noticed how intact men often quickly retract their foreskin and slip it back into place over the glans. This could be a kind of “territorial marking” and/or advertising of sexual presence and/or seducing mechanism to arouse the female, another male, or even the male himself.]

3) Stores and releases natural lubricants (harmless “smegma” and the clear, preejaculatory fluid) [Any intact (non-circumcised) woman has more smegma in her genitals than any intact man.] [In this function, the foreskin gathers up and helps spread and distribute the clear, slippery, viscous Cowper’s fluid over the glans, facilitating penetration and making masturbation extremely easy, enjoyable and physically nontraumatic, noninjuring.] [The normal, natural penis is naturally lubricated: cheap or costly artificial lubrication is not needed for masturbation and intercourse.]

4) Allows the production and retention of subpreputial, antipathogenic lysozyme to keep the penis, and boy/man healthy by lessening the chance for viral and bacterial infection and disease. 5) Creates a visual signal of sexual arousal: the glans first covered and then revealed, in its natural purple-red color, as erection occurs [Just as it is sexually arousing to see one’s sex partner remove clothing, it is highly arousing to watch the handsome glans revealed as the penis becomes erect.]

6) Supplies skin to cover the shaft in erection and prevent tightness, allowing effortless and physically nontraumatic masturbation and intercourse

7) Acts as a rolling bearing in intercourse and masturbation

8) Prevents dyspareunia (painful intercourse) [Unlike the natural, intact man who has tremendously movable shaft skin and foreskin during masturbation and intercourse, the tightly stretched, little movable or unmovable remnant of skin found on the dowel-like penis of the circumcised/sexually mutilated man can irritate, chafe and dry the vagina of the woman during intercourse, making sex painful for her and for him also.]

9) Stimulates partner’s genitalia, giving erotic pleasure

10) Provides a seal against the vaginal wall to contain semen

11) Prevents the glans from becoming keratinised [= from becoming essentially calloused], and keeps it soft and moist

12) Protects the thin-surfaced glans against injury

13) Protects the nerves of the glans, retaining their erotic function

14) In infancy, protects the urethra against contamination, meatal stenosis, and probably against UTIs (urinary tract infections) also

15) Pigmented, it protects the unpigmented glans from ultraviolet radiation

16) Vascular, it protects the less vascular glans against cold and frostbite
