okay so i just got my dream job??? a week after applying to it?? and now i’m thinking….maybe this is the good luck post
…..not even six hours later i got an offer of a well paying full time long-term job with free room and board in queens in nyc, allowing me independence and a way to escape an abusive situation and an unhealthy environment
likes charge reblogs cast, folks, this is the good luck post
I need a good car and apartment
The app “walk to Mordor” actually has the miles that the hobbits traveled. For humans, one mile is about 2000 steps. This will obviously be different for hobbits because they’re shorter, so I’m estimating about 3000 steps.
So, it would be about 5,796,000 steps for the hobbits from Bag End to the Grey Wood.
Walk to Mordor
Found this cool app while scrolling through the lotr tag! Thanks to that post that introduced me!
We've got checkpoints that correspond with the books, a way to find friends and post updates. Record your distance traveled manually, as well.
Here's a link to the website and maybe I'll find time to add screenshots tomorrow.
So, in June I started a job that required a lot of walking. I also like lotr and want to make sure I stay active even when this job is done. Here's the plan!
I have calculated how far I traveled in the past three months by using the pedometer in my phone. I found online that a mile is about 2000 steps, so I just took the daily average steps for the month, divided by 2000 and multiplied the number of days in the month. I will do the same every day before I got to bed in order to get how far I went for the day.
It is very unlikely that I will finish this year given that I would need to walk about 10 miles a day or more! But, I can finish by December 31, 2022. That's about 5 miles a day. To incentivize myself a little, I'm going to listen to the books in audiobook format while I walk.
Now, why am I posting it to my cosplay blog? Well, besides being a nerdy thing, I've decided that at certain checkpoints I get to dedicate time and money to making a part of my cosplay (probably a fantasy suit of armor). When It is complete, I get to start going to cons in cosplay, so the sooner I get to Mordor, the sooner I get to go to cons!
It took Frodo and Sam five months walking all day and taking boats and horses occasionally and stopping at cities for weeks at a time. So, five miles a day sounds fine.
If anyone wants to join me, I'm Olivia Wright. Go ahead and friend me!
I just completed “3 Days after Weathertop”, 298 mi!
I would still be working on it if I hadn’t seen the ocean for the first time this weekend. Walking the beaches and bay fronts meant I went about 8 hours a day. If you live near the coast, you better enjoy it! That was really cool
