im listening to 'basic being basic' by djo (great song) and it honestly is so good.

people truly are scared of being basic, its honestly funky seeing other people shame others for being 'basic', and there is such a prominent obsession with being cool and quirky in contrast to everybody else.

why not just be yourself? and if its being basic, thats fine. you're not better for being more unique or individual or maybe looking different, and youre not better if you look the same as everybody else.

Why is it so normalised for people to joke about serious mental disorders / neurodivergence that may interfere with peoples lives? It dulls down the meaning of the label and is SO harmful.

like, no, you dont have OCD because you like your wardrobe organized in rainbow order, thats just called being organized, and you dont have PTSD because you're mildly uncomfortable when talking about a topic or you're joking about something with your friends. The same goes for neurodivergent terms like 'overstimulated' or 'stimming'.

The no, its not being too woke. many people actually struggle from these disorders and neurodivergence, but aren't being taken seriously nowadays because everyone loosely throws around labels and terms relating to the topic.
