When you grow up in a loud environment, constantly having to project your voice from a young age was frightening to me. Why did I need to be loud to be heard?

I researched being a mute; what it is like, how to go about life, everything. I would consider myself “selective mute” I’ll talk when I’m spoken to. I keep my thoughts to myself unless I feel like need to be said out loud. (I also hate loud noises, speaking loud, anything “noisy”)

When I was asked to speak up I couldn’t help but be overjoyed. For once, I needed to raise my voice. I know I had to be to help a customer, but I hate being loud. When she said that, I wanted to hug her and say thank you.

It’s the small things like that, that make people’s day. It’s something so weird and crazy to be happy about, but I know people will understand when I finally say:
