deltarune krusielle theory because im crazy
i want to preface this that im not at ALL discrediting susie's feelings for noelle at any point here. while i go insane for ships like kriselle and krusie because i like their dynamics a lot, i think suselle is very nice as well and i am a big poly shipper :] but i wanted to talk about something i noticed in susie's behaviour towards kris. so we all kind of know that noelle and kris both have a massive crush on susie, and she reciprocates noelle's feelings, we can tell, even if we dont fully know the nature of kris's crush on susie it is definitely there. but what we dont talk about enough is how susie percieves her own feelings, and a certain blindness she has to them.
AND I THINK. and this might be crazy, but i think that susie originally only had a proper crush on kris. i want to discuss my evidence towards this.
one of my biggest indications of this is actually in the newest chapter. susie says 'before i knew you, i kinda thought you and noelle were a thing' and states that she was jealous. but the thing is, she doesnt even say who she was jealous of or what she was jealous of, just that she was jealous. not jealous of kris, not jealous of noelle, not jealous of them possibly being in a relationship, just jealous.
if you combine this with the fact that susie doesnt have any evidence of even having interacted with noelle much before the events of the game, this is kind of suspicious. susie, that we know of, has had very minimal interactions with noelle even before any of the events that have been shown in the deltarune game. the one interaction i can think of is where susie talks about the candy cane pencil in chapter 2, just before the ferris wheel scene, where noelle was nice to her in the past and susie decided she wouldnt bully noelle. i think its sweet, but it doesnt really have the implication of a crush on susies part. (yet.)
theres the "the_n3w3st_g1rl_g1rl" page in the spamton sweepstakes easter egg, where noelle discusses how she witnesses susie bullying kris. (also has some very cute moments of noelle being head over heels for susie)
this has many implications already. the fact that susie knows what kris's shampoo smells like even before they're friends, and she decides to make a comment about it like this is crazy. crazy to me. absolutely insane. why were you smelling kris.
ignoring the fact that kris was definitely being some kind of flirtatious here with the way they also bit the apple, susie has a habit of getting very close to kris's face and being threatening. there is a very well known thing phenomenon of certain people, usually bullies, misinterpreting their own feelings due to lack of emotional intelligence, and winding up bullying the subject of their affection.
now we have an idea that susies bullying of kris MAY have been out of some sort of jealousy, its not actually out of the question that she might have been doing this to gain their attention. she was searching for some kind of reaction from kris, and it was very obviously not to scare them away from noelle. we have no evidence of any interaction implying that.
but you know what we do have? this
noelle went out of her way to buy APPLE SHAMPOO. but this did not lead to noelle and susie interacting much more. in the first few chapters, susie acts like she didnt really think much of noelle up to that point at all, apart from remembering she was kind to her. but susie went out of her way to interact with kris often.
my point is, i dont think susie has a very good grasp over what her own feelings mean. her self perception and the way she thinks other people perceive her has an influence over whether or not she chooses to express her feelings. when it was negative, she pretended she didnt care, and now that she has a more positive self view and stronger friendships, she is very forward in her care towards others.
shes someone who grew up very angry and repressed, she only begins to understand and explore her feelings for noelle when she suspects they might be reciprocated. she mirrors other peoples behaviour in this way quite often, actually. maybe susie didnt consider herself having a chance with someone like noelle, so why even bother?
but i think the reason why she is less upfront with her feelings about kris is because kris's feelings and motivations are also obscured. she and kris know they both care about each other, but kris is more subtle with their crush on susie. i think that has an influence on her behaviour, she doesnt have a reason to think about it further. noelle is obvious, kris not so much.
anyway, that's on why i think susie's feelings for noelle developed more later, and she wasnt jealous of kris's relation to noelle, she was jealous of noelle's relation to kris. i dont think this means susie's feelings for noelle are any less, just that they came on at a different time, during the events of the game. and that's on why krusielle can still win.
(also side note, while i was doing a little research for this i went and looked at a bunch of suselle interactions and started losing my mind about how cute noelle is about susie. sobs and cries and screams, i love her)
