El works for the police department and she’s become very close to her mentor of five years. He’s older than her, tough, grumpy, and “is getting too old for this shit”. He pretends he doesn’t care about El but he does, prepared to beat up whoever brings down his sunshine down. They’ve saved each other’s lives more than once. He’s determined not to let El fall into the darkness of the world he knows so well, and the darkness she believes is inside of her.

El doesn’t put up with any of his shit. Their shouting matches are famous and can probably be heard from down the hallway before someone sends in the most innocent looking person they can find to interrupt them. He’s one of those grumps who you can just catch the hint of a smile pulling at his lips during bickering. And yes, they may bicker and disagree but at the end of the day they have each other’s backs 100%.

She’s secretly been in love with him for a long time. (Little does she know he feels the same way but denies himself, because of the age difference and the job) He’s her rock, keeping Alex grounded to reality when she gets in too deep. He balances her, more the voice of reason to her recklessness and the one who stops her from punching a guy in the face because she wants to. They have all this unsolved sexual tension that’s through the roof and all the members of the department can see it except for them because they’re stubborn dorks.

It’s going to be a painful, slow burn type of thing so if you like soul crushing feels you’ve come to the right place. I can promise you all the gifs, headcanons, playlists, threads, and love if you take him! His backstory and everything is completely open.
