After the death of Sora in Hollow Bastion, Kairi fled the castle with Donald and Goofy, she did not save Sora and because of this, there wasn’t anyone capable of saving Riku and stopping Ansem.
The Seeker of Darkness found the power that he sought and has reigned over the worlds of Light with a dark, iron grip. With Riku still in his possession, King Mickey trapped in the Realm of Darkness and most of those who would oppose him powerless to do anything, Ansem has turned much of the worlds, into his personal playgrounds.
Xemnas, ruler of Organization Thirteen seems to change his mind day by day as to whether or not he approves of Ansem and his Organization members themselves are scattered to the winds.
He knows the whereabouts of some and not others.
The Princess of Heart, Kairi, along with many others who would seek to end Ansem’s reign have made a secret hideout for themselves below the streets of Traverse Town. Five years have passed since Sora’s demise in Hollow Bastion - though the abomination that is his Heartless has been seen more than once, stalking the already frightened residents.
They’ve lost some people to him.
Kairi could never be sure what prompted her start talking about it, to start venting her fears to her Nobody, Naminé.
The Fear that she couldn’t do this alone; that it was getting too out of hand.
Naminé suggested they make a new Sora.
Apparently she’d been reading some books found in the Twilight Town mansion and believed it to be possible. Naminé spoke to DiZ who agreed to help them and Kairi muscled the Nobody Vexen into assisting them.
Kairi collected the materials.
Vexen drafted the plans (with a quiet plea from Kairi to make him look older than 14).
The Moogles built his body.
And Naminé and DiZ programmed everything they and Kairi knew of Sora into the creation.
There were several trials and errors - a few versions collapsed, two exploded and one nearly went on a manic killing spree before everyone involved finally got the wires and input right and S.O.R.A. V.2.3 was powered up and turned on.
Saviour Of Riku’s Ass was coming for Ansem.
1 - S.O.R.A is typically called Sora or 2.3 (.4.5.6 etc… whichever version he happens to be on)
2 - Only the Moogles and Vexen know the precise amounts and what crafts what, but S.O.R.A. V.2.3 is comprised of: Mythril, Orichalcum, Serenity Crystals/Gems, Bright Stones/Shards, Power Gems/Stones, Energy Crystals/Gems/Stones/Shards, Lucid/Lightning/Frost/Blazing Crystals, Twilight Shards, Mysterious Goo, Dazzling/Stormy Stones, Spirit Shards and Gales.
3 - S.O.R.A. V.2.3 has a variety of sensors that allow him to touch and feel things; he however cannot feel pain. Vexen and DiZ felt that it would be a hindrance and would slow him down if he became damaged.
4 - S.O.R.A. V.2.3 Does NOT have a Keyblade, nor can he wield one. He does not have a heart and is in no way organic. He does have a variety of other weapons (including a crafted Keyblade) that Kairi imbued with light power so that he would be able to fight back against the dark powers.
5 - S.O.R.A. V.2.3 is fully aware that he is a machine and not alive.
6 - S.O.R.A. V.2.3 cannot visit Atlantica. While he can be submerged for a short period of time, he cannot go in water that deep, nor can he swim. He’s too heavy, however using the same propulsion he uses to jump/hover, he can move quickly through deep water.
7 - S.O.R.A. V.2.3 cannot use magic. He’s not alive; there is no magic to run through his veins. He does however have a variety of electrical attacks that work as Thunder spells.
8 - While S.O.R.A. V.2.3 is a machine, his programming gives him personality and the ability to mostlythink and make decisions on his own, using the data he has, he is best called an Android and has AI that is the best of DiZ’s and Vexen’s capability to create.
9 - Malfunctions sometimes happen.
