i’m listening to so many podcasts, i don’t know where to start. wonderful is a very positive and wholesome podcast if you’re into that. i also love to listen to armchair expert, have you ever listened to it? what’s your favorite podcast? hon how are you? i’ll admit i’m very sad i never got to film with you this season. but you looked wonderful in your scenes.
i’m all for podcast suggestions, honestly. i’m trying to get into them more but i feel like there’s so many and it’s overwhelming to find one i really love. i’ve listened to armchair expert! i listened to an episode forever ago where dax interviewed ashton kutcher because i have the biggest crush on that man. i’m good! things are going really well. how about you? all good on your end? you were so special this season. you mastered the art of becoming an extreme environmentalist.
thesamuelclaflin:
How does that make you pretentious? I think it makes you normal. I’m so far behind on most current music because I’ve always been a fan of the 80s so rather than listen to what the new artists are doing, I’m stuck in the big hair era. There are a few songs out there that I like but for the most part, I’m a fan of rock/pop rock. I am also not ashamed to admit that I was a fan of boybands as well. NSYNC and Backstreet Boys were my favorite growing up and I’ll forever be sad that they broke up. As for your show, I loved season one and have been waiting with bated breath for the second one. Not going to lie, I might just spend my birthday binge watching the whole show.
wanna be in on a secret? sometimes i think i say shit like that just in case someone else thinks i’m being pretentious. that way i’m one step ahead of ‘em. they can’t tell me i’m pretentious if i already know that i am, y’know? i love that you’re stuck so far back in the times, honestly. what’s your go-to ‘80s band? i know queen is more of a ‘70s era band but i was obsessed with them as a kid. my dad played them so much. did you find yourself becoming a fan of one direction, despite being an adult when they formed? or was the boyband interest more of a trait reserved for your childhood? i’m glad you liked it so much! definitely do something more fun than watching ben’s face swimming across your screen -- even if it’s a pretty face to see. do you have any big plans for your birthday or are you winging it the day of?

nashe: tinashe.
nashe: you don't see me going around, screwing your friends you because i'm not petty. try doing the same and grow up, thank you.
david: oh.
david: god, can't you just say 'hey' like a normal person?
david: unless you have new friends that i don't know about, i've very adamantly steered clear of fucking your friends.
jodiemcrie:
Not pretentious at all because I’m the same. I feel like it’s been really bad, especially the last few months, too. I don’t know what it is. So needless to say, I’m not the person to go to for recommendations but if you get anything good, feel free to send my way since I’m 100% guilty of getting stuck into that same sound. Nice to meet you, David. I’m Jodie…I’ll make a deal with you - I’ll watch the second season if you watch Killing Eve. Good?
the joke might be on us because we both might just be super pretentious. i’ve just been listening to the same ten songs on repeat, i think. i’m so sick of them but i have nothing better to listen to, so i get stuck in the same cycle. what songs are you cycling through? maybe we’ll give one another new music to add to our limited mix. it’s a pleasure to meet you, jodie. sounds like a deal to me! i’ve heard you’re pretty kickass in it.

Have you ever noticed how many new fans you get from project young and old? My mother and aunts asked if I knew you after watching you in Hollywood and Affairs of State.
You realize I have done over fifty Bollywood movies, right? But yes I have seen pretty much everything I have done.
you’re so sweet but i definitely don’t have a ton of fans. i think i mostly have people who think i look like i could be the next superman and they wanna know if i plan on taking on that role anytime soon. how’d your mom and aunts like ‘em? both are pretty ... wild.
over fifty? holy shit. and you’ve seen almost all of them? consider me impressed. i need to start watching all of your projects so i can call myself your number one fan.
sebasstanstan:
god, I am a full blown tiktok watcher and you can blame billie eilish because she taught me about the damn app! haha i’m telling you, it’s the most addicting app and I can waste HOURS on there. see, I actually never got into vine! I missed that train and I regret it because people have been comparing tiktok to that a lot. and the best tiktoks? damn, anything with a dog in it, if i’m being honest. and baby reaction videos. those two get me every time haha I definitely will!
it’s such a gen z kid type of app, so i can’t even say i’m surprised that the queen of the new generation was the one that taught you how to use it. i’m sure, though! it seems like the kind of thing that you intend to get on for a few minutes and then you find yourself scrolling with dry eyes for hours. are you completely lost when people make vine references, then? or have you caved and watched the compilation videos on youtube? i have seen a tiktok where this mom gives her kid different food in each video and he says “thank you” in the cutest voice. it almost made me wanna have kids, i swear.
kehlcnii:
nah, it’s pretty easy to get into a loop of listening to the same songs over and over. that happens to me sometimes too. i’ll listen to a song or an album for like a week or month or however long until i move on to something else and repeat pretty much. hmm, well i dunno what genres you’re into or what you have already heard or not… but teyana taylor just dropped an album and it’s fire, called the album. also john legend’s new album. i swear it’s impossible for that man to make a bad one. chilombo by jhene aiko and half written story by hailee steinfeld are also great projects worth giving a listen. not to be that person but i released my second album, it was good until it wasn’t, last month if ya wanna check that out too. nice to meet you, david. i’m kehlani. do you prefer being called dave or david? or something else? oh don’t worry, i’m already planning to watch season 2 as soon as i get the chance.
this is exactly what i do. do you ever listen to a song or album so often that you can’t stand it anymore? like, you over-listen to it until it drives you insane to have it playing? i think that’s the point that i’m at with most of my music. i’m definitely adding all of these suggestions to my list as we speak. that’s so nerdy, isn’t it? the fact that i’ve started compiling a list of music recommendations so i find something new that i like. also, smooth of you to suggest your own album but i’ve already obsessively listened to it, so we won’t be adding that to the list! i’ve been super into your voice ever since i heard the song you did with hayley kiyoko, so i’ve been into it for a hot minute. you know, nobody really calls me dave, so if you’re feeling that, then definitely go for it. do you have any nicknames? maybe lani? hell yeah, dude. i hope you like it!
𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭: [ 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 ]
nashe: i’m just confused.
nashe: are you that lonely that you have go after a friend of mine?
nashe: your hand isn’t cutting it anymore?
nashe: pathetic.
david: sorry, who is this?
david: i don't have this number saved, so... whoever you are, sorry if i went after your friend? and sorry if i offended you by /not/ using my hand anymore.
ffsdayacoleman:
You might be in the 1%, but at least you aren’t in the likes earworms desert, which has it on a repetitive loop since they’re so lazy to drive through playlist city. Taylor Swift’s customary, Ingrid Andress, The 1975, Two Door Cinema Club, and Kodaline may seem like a one-hit-wonder to some, but their lyricism is always off the charts too. Then I also really like remixes right now, and those are best recorded by Spotify sessions like Summer Love by Chelsea Cutler or the original track themselves hence Black and White’s Oliver Nelson remix.
god, what an analogy. to be fair, playlists can be hard to navigate sometimes. it’s definitely easier to just listen to what we know but that makes the beauty of music so much less obvious, in my opinion. okay, so i’m loving all of these music choices. what’d you think of the 1975′s new album? did you dig it? kodaline had that one song that was big in like, 2014, right? back when the soundtrack to ‘the fault in our stars’ was all the rage? i feel like i’ve gotta listen to any recommendation you give me, dude. as soon as you name dropped taylor swift, the 1975, and two door cinema club, you established a bunch of credibility. what other recommendations have you got up your sleeve? whether it be music or anything else.

iamemmastoney:
I love music but I’m also extremely picky about what songs I want to listen too. I’m not a fan of most rap music, I detest almost all country music, there are a few hidden gems mixed in there, but for the most part I am a pop and rock fan. Oh and definitely a fan of boybands… right now I’m currently obsessing over the Weekend’s new album… its full of some amazing content. And then of course, there is my girl Selena and Halsey, Bieber, BTS… I could go on. And I will if you want me too, always eager to help out. Nice to meet you David, I’m Emma, and I tend to stay away from anything political but because you asked so nicely, I think I will give your show a watch.
i think being picky is just a sign that you’ve got an acquired taste, right? it’s not always a bad thing. rap is fine but there’s definitely specific artists that i like more than others. country music is absolutely not my speed. i can only listen to someone sing in a heavy southern accent for so long before i have to switch gears. the weeknd is fun! he has a couple of songs that are so easy to listen to on repeat. i love how much pop music you have on your roster. it makes me feel much better about loving so much music that’s on the radio. you and i are music soulmates, emma. it’s nice to meet you! an honor, really, since you’re apart of so many projects that i love. if politics aren’t your speed, then there’s no pressure! it’s a fun little project that i’m happy i was in, though.
famelarson:
who are you calling dummy? last time i checked, you’re the dummy in this friendship. but nope, i’m not going to agree with you — you’re hot as fuck.
make sure you put an emphasis on friendship so i don’t think we’re out here falling in love or something over us calling each other hot, buddy. pal. amigo ... other words associated with friendship.
jcehyns:
you know, i heard there’s this really cool group named nct 127 who just came out with a repacked album a few weeks ago that’s pretty cool. got a type of song on there for everybody, so i think you should give them a good listen – just sayin’. for every song you listen to, i’ll watch an episode of your show. is now a bad time to tell you i’ve still gotta watch the first season?
god, this is the best type of self promotion. you’re out here challenging me to listen to a couple of songs like i won’t listen to the whole album just so you’ve gotta watch the bulk of the show i’m in. check it out, dude! the first season is insane. plus, you’ll get to see a whole lot of my face throughout the first season. it’s a win-win, ya know?
jvngwcos:
Genuinely, without my members, I doubt I’d discover new music all that often. I tend to get lost in the same album for… weeks, then slowly move onto another. But the guys listen to things at the dorm, and whenever we do shoots, or record music videos, the radio is always on, playing the latest songs to hit the charts. Otherwise, I’d be clueless. Plus, Xuxi listens to a lot of new music, so he shares it with me. It’s hard to keep up with the latest releases, though, and when you do, not everything will appeal, so you gotta start your search all over again. Pain in the butt. For not so subtly suggesting your own show—which is on my watch list now—I’m gonna have to not so subtly suggest my groups music, and say you should listen to NCT 127, NCT Dream and WayV. WayV just dropped a new album, and it’s incredible. Their latest single is called Turn Back Time, and it’s been on repeat for me. I hope you like it, if you do listen~ I’m Jungwoo, and it’s great to meet you!
i’m totally like that! i listen to albums as a whole, rather than random songs from artists sometimes. i used to be the kind of person that was so against listening to the radio -- i was too good for the radio, i think. then, i realized just how ridiculous that was. people who actively avoid listening to the radio are the most pretentious kind of people. as long as you promote yourself, too, i’ll feel better about promoting my show. if you wanna get really invested in my acting career, check out hollywood on netflix, too! you’ll see more of me in that one as opposed to my solid three appearances in the politician. i’ll definitely give it a listen! i’m always in the market for finding new things to jam out to. the feeling is mutual, man!

tcemint:
Well, I’d be a fool not to suggest my own work, so any of my albums. I have a comeback next month too, so you can look forward to that. Or SHINee, their work is pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. Give SuperM a listen to as well, their album is amazing, no lie. Or any album by SM Entertainment artists. Like EXO, NCT, WayV, Red Velvet, Girls Generation, Super Junior, TVXQ. You gotta find one in there you like. If you need me to recommend certain songs, I can do that too~ So, tell me, what’s The Politician about? Good to meet you, David, I’m Taemin.
i’m clearly here to support any self-promotion, so have at it. what’s your favorite album that you’ve worked on? i’ll check that out first. you just went from suggesting your own work to giving me a whole list of recommendations, holy shit. i appreciate it, dude! i’ve definitely heard of wayv because my little cousin has a huge crush on lucas. i think i’ve heard of red velvet and girls generation, too! all of ‘em are groups i’ve heard of but definitely haven’t checked out, so i’m gonna get on that right away. the briefest summary i can give without spoiling too much is that it’s about payton, who’s played by ben platt, and he’s this borderline sociopath who bases his entire existence on becoming president one day. the first season deals with him becoming student body president, whereas season two sets the stakes a bit higher.

david: so, i have a hypothetical question.
david: i've seen very little of game of thrones (don't judge me for it, thank you very much) but i DO know that there's dragons on it, right?
david: so, how fucking weird was it to pretend that there was a real dragon in front of you?
david: more importantly, if there was a real dragon in front of you, would you befriend it or slay it? asking the important questions here.
