After going over the stuff i underlined i now know why im kinda disappointed with this book. It started out with much more promise and depth. It was gonna be about an isolated boy trying to find his place at home after his time in prison, about an ex preachers struggle with earthly pleasures, his ex teachings, about leaving your home and your past (your being) behind, being strong before traumas for your family, humans connection to nature and machinery, about man’s need for a concept to live. Thats why the first half was more than some “red” propaganda. and i will tell you its so damn good at giving you his reasons for his ideals. You can relate, you get angry with them. But after some point, all the depth leaves the book and theres just some unnecessary drama to shove his concepts to your face. Anyways i think its a must read for everyone but i expected more

"Some of the owner men were kind because they hated what they had to do, and some of them were angry because they hated to be cruel, and some of them were cold because they had long ago found that one could not be an owner unless one were cold. And all of them were caught in something larger than themselves. Some of them hated the mathematics that drove them, and some were afraid, and some worshipped the mathematics because it provided a refuge from thought and from feeling ..."
