Kind of, sort of over everyone telling me that my feelings are false when I say that I am fine with being single. In fact, I am so much better off being alone. Like I like to genuinely be alone; I don’t need someone to come home to. I sure as hell don’t want to share my glass of wine or morning coffee with anyone. I am so good at being alone, it’s scary.

The truth is, I am not emotionally damaged and I’m not emotionally closed off.

My truth is, I don’t think I could belong to one person. I don’t even belong to myself – just look at my schedule. I belong to everyone. My life is just a collective experience and means for everyone else. That is my truth. That I have accepted.

I do believe that we need human touch and we need intense love. That is what keeps our hearts beating. For me, I will have a lover, once every year or two that will sustain me and highlight the fact that I am someone who will be fine and happy drinking their morning coffee alone in the morning and wine at night. Because in between those two things, I will be busy helping others, caring for others, loving others that I won’t have to dwell on what I don’t have – I am rich in what I do have.

So please, stop trying to put me in a cage.
