Dear Music Venues
I typically don’t use this Tumblr as much anymore than I used to, but a situation that occurred tonight really stirred me up and someone has to say something about a topic that needs to be addressed, once again. Before I get into it, reasoning i’m posting this is as follows; couple hours ago, a very extremely talented musician named Christina Grimmie was shot at her merchandise table after her show in Orlando while meeting fans, which is extremely sad and scary, but leaves me with one question: WHERE THE FLYING FUCK WAS SECURITY?!
Music venues are supposed to have security on hand when big artists come around to their venue, not only to protect the artist themselves, but fans as well, for this very situation and similar situations to be avoided.
Granted, it’s not all music venues that have bad security, cause i’ve witnessed some music venues while touring be extremely on their game with everything, but it really makes me question on where security was after this show.
So an open letter to music venues, please up your security. If this isn’t another wake up call to have triple the amount of security on duty to protect artists, along with fans that come to these shows to see their favorite artists when they come through your city while on the road, I wouldn’t be surprised if artists start avoiding select areas in the future. Artists and fans want to feel safe when they visit a city and come to your venue, not feel threatened.
Christina and her family will be in my prayers and i’m hoping she pulls through. She’s an amazing artist and didn’t deserve this one bit.
