A note would appear on Mark's desk, it seems frail, blackened with glowing purple text.
Beware the child who returns to the nest, he may not be the same every time he comes to rest, this he can't attest. - T. D. S.
"The fuck does that mean? Who was in my office?" Mark went to his desk and turned on his computer, checking the room's security feed to see who or what was in his office.
In the office was a cloaked figure, small as a child, bright green shoes, darkness obscuring their face. The strangest thing happens as they wave a hand at the security camera, the footage skips a full minute and the figure is gone.
Mark takes a screenshot and emails the photo to Lyn and Corbal
"Keep an eye out for him. I don't know who or what that is but they snuck into my office. Is he connected to you guys somehow?"
His next move was on his radio
"Attention all research and security personnel. This is Officer Walker.
We have a possible intruder on site. Physical description is small, possibly a child. Wearing a black cloak of some kind, bright green shoes and is capable of manipulating electronics. If you spot them, report them to the nearest security officer. Do not engage unless attacked. We have no idea what they are capable of."
There is a very quick message back from Corbal,
"Mark, I'm not even allowed to be out of a certain area yet, even though I very much would like to go home. Still I don't know what you want me to look out for, there is nothing there."
He can't see it somehow. He has observed this phenomenon before. Tapping away at his keyboard, Mark had his PC render a sketch of the mystery kid. If it is a sketch and not a photo, Corbal should be able to see it. This should bypass whatever is preventing him from seeing the mystery figure. He sends the sketch to Lyn and Corbal again. Hopefully Lyn responds soon.
Lyn doesn't respond, but there is a quick message from Corbal
"Okay so you want me to keep a eye out for... a drawing? But in all seriousness what is actually going on?"
"Someone is in the base. I don't know how but they look exactly like that. I think they might be an alternate version of you. I saw another like you once in some pocket dimension of yours. But for some reason you can't see them. I can though."
"Assuming thats drawn for scale Mark... they are too short to be me. Flattered as I am to be looked upon as that tiny, I wouldn't even be able to see ontop of shelves. I'll keep a eyesocket out though just incase."
