Nellie had been slightly distracted, her attention landing elsewhere as the other continued their story. She could have sworn that she had spotted something out of the corner of her eye but perhaps that was just her eyes playing tricks on her or her overactive imagination. Quickly she shook the idea out of her head, directing her attention back to them again. “ I’m sorry.. I was just a little distracted there for a minute….you were saying? “

Immediately Nick’s brow shot up, looking slightly offended by her comment. Sure he had a big ego which quite possibly caused him to fall on the cocky side but he didn’t think that was anyone’s business. “ You know what, I think you’re just jealous. “ he challenged with a casual shrug.  “ Okay, now I know that’s a lie. This look, “ he motioned down to his outfit before looking back up to her, “ Flawless. “

Nick had caught his reflection on a shiny surface and couldn’t help but be pleased by what he saw. With the collar of his leather jacket popped he couldn’t help but feel a lot cooler then he ever had. “ You know I never imagined what it would be like to live in the fifties, then again that’s probably for the best you know? I doubt it would have been anything like grease, you get what I’m saying. “ he said, making a face immediately after.  “ Hey, at least I don’t have to imagine how great I would have looked. “ he added with a wink. 

even if tight clothing really wasn’t in mel’s regular wardrobe, she was determined to fully embrace a mix between the greaser and goth: the tight and simple clothing of a greaser with small accessories paying homage to the edgier parts of modern fashion which involved many necklaces and rings. she was rather musical as she walked, but she enjoyed the demanded presence the jingling caused. “and here we are. i don’t think i stuck with the theme very well, but i’m sure you don’t mind. want to make some old school bad decisions and host a ouija board session in the back?” she playfully suggested.

piper felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her as mel draped an arm around her shoulders in a supportive manner. she hated crying in front of others, especially when she had zero control over her emotions due to lack of sobriety. she sniffed weakly before forcing herself to look back up at her companion, thumbs brushing away a few stray tears as she nodded her head. “the whole feeding a dead body to my cats idea might come in handy if my boss keeps acting like an absolute pompous asshole.” she chuckled softly. Though at the idea of finding a date, her shoulders sagged slightly. “i don’t know. putting myself out there has kind of been hard lately. i see all these happy couples and begin to over-analyze why i haven’t had anyone show interest in me.” she shook her head. “i think at this point my only hope would be to have someone set me up on a blind date and we both know how successful those tend to be.”

mabel hummed slightly, pen hovering over the column to write mothman as she considered. “maybe i just feel like nessie can take care of me in a way that mothman can’t.” and that was well knowing that she wasn’t exactly what most people considered low maintenance. even with family and friends she knew she wasn’t always the easiest to handle. nessie seemed like that patient type though. “like i totally think mothman would be the perfect type for a fling, to take me on a wild two week adventure and i never see him again and have to convince people and myself it was real, but nessie would be way better for a long term relationship.” she said, clicking her pen a few times. “besides, maybe i want the attention of main stream media.” mabel added with a small excited laugh.

“ Okay you are definitely judging me right now. “ Nick observed out loud. While he wasn’t exactly the most outgoing of people he certainly couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell a good story. Especially when that story involved bragging about just how clever he was. “ Look faking an injury really isn’t the worst thing you could do. “ he protested. “ I mean imoral, sure. Slightly insulting even, but certainly not the worst. “ he added, shaking his head in disagreement. “ Besides can you really blame me? I have a pair of crutches and a fake cast at home just waiting to be used. “

Was Piper already drunk? Most definitely. “This was such a good idea, Mel!” She was being far too loud at this point, but she didn’t really realize it. She pat her acquaintance on the back as she looked over at the other female, fingers pushing her hair back in a clumsy manner with her free hand. “You know what? I seriously hate Valentines Day. Like who the hell invented such a shitty holiday? I can binge out on chocolate and buy myself flowers and teddy bears on any given day.” She complained. Though she paused as she began to process things, tears welling in her eyes. Here come the drunken emotions. “Oh my god, I’m going to be alone for the rest of my life. My sisters are going to get married and leave me alone to house a bunch of cats.” She buried her face in her hands. 

While part of him wanted to snap back with a witty comment he only let out a fake chuckle instead. “ Yeah.. something sort of like that. “ he replied. He took the tissue from her and nodded silently thanking her. “ Well, when you fall on your face that does tend to be the case. “  He added with a casual shrug. “ Thanks anyway, though. “ he replied graciously before popping the mint into his mouth. 

With so much weighing on her mind for the past few days, Addison had decided to spend the night working on one of the many crafts she had saved to one of her Pinterest boards as some source of distraction. She was proudly displaying one of bright pink and green bracelets with a golden printed name scribbled across the band to the other, a bright smile on her face. “ So, what do you think ? Are they lame or totally awesome ? ”

Of course he should have known that the night could only end badly. Didn’t every night that he was surrounded by family end that way? Hans felt as though he was playing a losing game from the very start. He could’ve either ignored his mother’s invitation to dinner and be chewed out about it the next time he was to see them ( whenever that would be ) or show up and accept whatever consequences came along with it. He had chosen the latter and was now seriously regretting it. Apparently alcohol and his eldest brother didn’t mix well.  He hid his bloody lip behind his hand, which was hardly inconspicuous but neither was parading around with a busted lip on full display. “ Do you happen to have a tissue or anything on you? I… got into a little accident. “ he lied to avoid any further questions. 

“Hey!” It was never a difficult thing for Portia to randomly approach people and talk to them but she couldn’t help but feel nervous today. “I’m sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you’d be interested in attending my sorority’s annual bid? It’s a bit similar to those Bachelor Bids that fraternities put on but less archaic. Anyone can attend, no matter your gender and bid. None of our members are forced to dress up and take anyone on dates. Instead all the money that’s earned from the bid will go to the Lost Boys Orphanage and a foundation to help install more ease of access technology for our residents with disabilities and in return you get to go get mani-pedis with a member you bid on.” She bit down on her lip and brushed back her golden curls with her free hand. “I understand if it’s not your thing but maybe you know someone who would want to come?” She offered one of the pastel pink colored flyers out to them.

“okay so.” mabel hummed, doing her best to not chew on the pen she was holding. “mothman or the loch ness monster, which would you rather date?” she had been doing this for a little while now, pitting two cryptids against each other for which would be better for dates. there were notes scrawled through her journal, as well as a semi-functional chart listing the two that had gone up against each other and ultimately which one had won. ultimately there were a lot of ties, because as hard as mabel tried how could she commit to just one? “they’d both be great obviously, but mothman might be harder to find, making frequent dates hard.” she moved down, as if to mark that mothman had won, before changing her mind and looking back up. “but on the other hand nessie seems like she’d have a lot of expectations and needs and i just don’t know if you could provide. what would you go with?”
