day 6 / ???
this is really interesting in how it frames disability/low spoons/etc as not being a series of internal symptoms, but specifically a situation in which daily tasks increase in complexity. for example i used to be able to wash the dishes normally. but now mental and physical issues combine to make that situation have a lot of prequalifications (do I have time, energy, how long can I do it without being sore the next day) that means many more steps are involved in getting that single physical act of washing a dish to be done.
Iβm trying to remember the quote. βOn a good day, doing laundry is three steps. On a bad day, the first step is getting out of bed.β
Saw a post about "identity emerging from action" and had some firmly "go make your own damn post" thoughts about it, so.
My current take (on my own damn post) is that identity and action are engaged in a self-observing feedback loop in which there are other components.
Actions can, as the original post suggested, compile into something resembling an identity. But the assignation of an identity based on those actions is an act of interpretation, and the interpretation is (I think always, but at least) often a function of some philosophical principle, intentional or not, e.g.: utilitarian (it is useful to conceive of this thing in this way), aesthetic (it is cohesive/beautiful/profound to conceive of this thing in this way), hedonist (it is fun to conceive of this thing in this way). However, identity also influences action, (among other ways) in terms of "responding as the kind of being I think I am would respond," "practicing to be more like the kind of being I think I am," and "avoiding situations in which I am liable to be demonstrated not to be the kind of being I think I am."
And that's not even mentioning social/interpersonal influences, incidental reward/feedback mechanisms, and engagement with reality, historical narratives, and art to develop templates for "kinds of identities someone can have."
walking around the dashboard at four in the morning stepping on all the creaking posts loud as fuck

he wasnβt even there to be a contestant he joined the crew as aΒ CHINESE TEACHER but the directors noticed his good looks and begged him to compete. poor guy made it to the finals and if he had been one of the winners he would have been contractually forced to be in a boy band whether he wanted to or not
this is the closest any human being has ever come to actually being sold to One Direction
Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you
i wish the world was kinder

i bet the pain will end if i arrange a perfect enough sentence about it
your erotica doesn't need to align with your principles. you can find something hot and not believe it should be the way of things. you can play out dynamics in kink that shouldn't be replicated societally. what gets you going is not an indictment of your character

New short story, LET'S DIE. You just know that if you got powers you'd be so annoying. Don't act like you wouldn't be. You'd be the "guy with powers" guy to all of your coworkers.
subject muttering a suggestion or mantra under their breath the way you do when you need to remember something. quietly talking themself through a suggestion step by step like when you're alone in your house trying to focus on something or figure something out. like it's just some mundane normal thing they're doing
