I think probably the easiest sign that society's obsession with thinness is not about health, as they so love to claim, is that you're not supposed to wear clothes that make you look fatter. Literally nothing about your body or health changes by putting on a horizontally striped shirt or a skirt that doesn't give the illusion of an hourglass figure. And yet.

This is why I hate the word "flattering" when trying on clothes. Even when it's meant well, all I hear is "You look more more attractive than you are/less like yourself"
