Laicite- The absence of religious involvement in government! Freedom from religion, this represents France. While the U.S. has freedom of religion, where everyone can voice or showcase their religious affiliation, France does not believe in outward displays.

I chose the royal gates of Versailles because they have been recreated three centuries after they were torned down during theFrench Revolution

The Louvre, I just have to stop myself. There was so much history contained in this one place. The world’s largest museum and historic monument in Paris. It is located on Paris’ Right Bank. At one time Napoleon temporarily name it after himself. The Louvre is just fascinating.There is no way I couldn’t choose this artifact.

An icon to the French, Josephine Baker was revered. She was an American born French dancer, jazz and pop music singer and actress. She was known in some circles as Black Pearl. Josephine Baker was quite political during her career, and she became very active in the Civil Rights Movement. I chose her because of her crossover appeal to the European world, even though she was not accepted in her birthplace (America). The Bobino Theater is one of the most famous places she performed her banana dance. it is also where she gave her last performance at the age of 68.

FONTAINEBLEU This commune in the metropolitan South of France is an iconic view of French history,its art and its architecture. It was the home of French monarchs from Louis VII through Napoleon III.

The Follies A cabaret music hall in Paris. It was at the height of its fame when Josephine Baker performed her banana dance there.The Folies Bergere is a strong symbol of French and Parisian lifestyle. Ziegfeld(American) named his extravagant Broadway revue Ziegfeld Follies after this famous Parisian venue. This cultural migration is why I chose to include its history.

As we visited Henri Wallon High School, I was enamored by the spirit of these young adults. We had a slight language barrier , but they were more than willing to meet me half way to communicate. It was an experience I will take into my future endeavors as a teacher. The awakening of how important it will be to make sure every nationality is included, will be something I never forget. It has been an enlightening experience to be able to cross this bridge.

This relic of an outdoors cell gave me the chills. Can you imagine being a prisoner  back in the day in Paris. It's enough to scare a criminal  into living right.
