So basically it’s about “finding meaning in a stagnant life” among other things and for that reason I don’t particularly care that Gooseworx is not exploring like, the psychological impact of Pomni no longer needing to eat because in the end that’s not something humans deal with. But being forced to deal with stupid quotas and assignments and just doing the bare minimum of the job as we ignore one another and mope about our own loneliness, that happens in real life. The character moments are things that could happen in real life because it’s about real life. The circus is inevitably real even if they’re digital copies or not, their circumstances are real despite it being digital, you know?

It’s poetic even because Jax, the one most interested in exploring and exploiting the mechanics of the digital circus. Is also the one who has the biggest problem with acknowledging that they are real people with emotional problems and issues and backgrounds to work on here.
