Random thing #15:
Waking up from banging on their door was the last thing Hero needed. It was the last thing they wanted.
At first they tried to ignore it. They flipped the sheets over their head and prayed for whoever was at their door to go away.
Who the hell would even be knocking at this time?
Hero waited, but the knocking didnât seem to stop.
So now here they were stumbling down the hallway and heading for the door.
Hero was ready to snap at whoever was at the door to walk off.
They were a hero for god sake, canât a hero get some sleep for once?
They felt how angry they were as they swung the door open.
âYou can stop fucking knocking, what the fuck do you-â
âŚ
Hero lost all their words completely.
They stood right in front of Villain. Hero could see Villain covering their eyes sobbing. They were covered in blood and they were trying to stand on one foot as if they were injured.
They looked horrible. The worst Hero has ever seen.
Immediately Hero kept them on their feet as they pulled them close. They felt Villainâs arms immediately cling onto them as they began to sob more.
They were shaking. It felt like an earthquake on them.
âWhat the hell happened?â Hero felt their voice break as tears bottled up in their own eyes due to the sight of them.
There was no reply from Villain, and they kept their head buried within Heroâs shirt.
Hero had to do something.
With ease Hero tried to bring them in. Once or twice Villain stumbled, but Hero managed to catch them.
The whole time Villain kept their head low. They didnât stop crying.
They were in a lot of pain. And Hero could see it.
Very slowly Hero placed them on the couch, and all Villain did was sit there and cover their face with their hands.
This wasnât Villain at all. In fact, Villain was the opposite. They never cried and they were never hurt.
So what the hell happened to them?
It broke Heroâs heart to hear them cry. Something really bad must have happened.
Hero was still gentle when they placed their hands on the side of Villainâs face.
âVillain?â Hero kept their voice in a soft whisper. âAre you with me?â
Hero could see a slight nod from Villain, and they could hear them trying to breathe and calm down.
All Hero had to do was go easy. It was the only way to calm them down.
âWhat happened?â Hero couldnât control how concerned they were. âWho or what did this to you?â
Villain sniffled, and they still had their hands cover their eyes.
âT-too muchâŚâ
âAlright,â Hero kept their hands on the side of their face. They understood. âCan you at least look up at me?â
âI canât⌠I canât see you.â Villain moved their hands away from their eyes, but kept their head down.
âHun, what do you mean you canât see me?â Hero started to lift their head with ease. âIâm right-â
Hero had lost their words a second time as they were met with pale white eyes. There was blood on their face too.
Someone had blinded them.
Hero couldnât speak, they no longer said anything. There was nothing they could say.
It made Hero sick knowing someone had a horrible mind to do this. Sure Villain was bad, but they didnât deserve this.
The silence made Villain push themselves away from Hero, and they felt more tears build up.
Hero had never felt this bad in their life. Knowing that someone had hurt them.
âItâs bad, isnât it?â Villain began to sob again. âIâm ugly, arenât I?â
Quickly Hero pulled Villain back into their arms and rocked them back and forth.
âNo.â Hero murmured. âYou are not ugly. You never will be. I promise. I swear.â
Villain could only nod and calm down again, but they werenât sure if Hero was telling the truth or not.
âWho did this to you?â Hero tried their best to not sound angry.
âS-Supervillain did.â
Hero wanted to punch the fucking wall. They wanted to storm up to Supervillain and pull their own fucking eyes out.
But instead, they remained calm. It was the only way Villain would remain calm as well.
âHow did you get here?â
âTheir henchmen. They told them to throw me onto the street. B-But they were nice enough to bring me here instead. They knew youâd take me in.â
Hero let out a relieved sigh. Thank god Supervillainâs henchmen werenât heartless.
âAnd the bleeding? Did Supervillain do that too?â
âNo. I tripped up your stairs a lot.â Villain chuckled slightly, but it died seconds later.
Hero only continued to rock them back and forth along with a few kisses on their forehead. Most times Hero would comfort them with a movie or a video game, but now it was useless. Villain wouldnât be able to see it anyways.
Once a few minutes went by, Hero carefully helped Villain onto their feet.
âIâll contact Superhero and see if I can get you in a private hospital tomorrow. Until then, can you hang in there for me?â
Villain nodded, and they rested their head on Heroâs shoulder. They were ready to just sleep. They didnât want to feel this pain anymore.
There was only one thing on Heroâs list. They were going to make sure Villain would be able to see again.
