When planning for a wedding, always ALWAYS choose and book your caterer first. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to book early especially if you already have a caterer in mind.
I would advise at least 1 or 1 ½ years in advance. Once you have booked your caterer and have made the deposit, then you can proceed with the rest of your wedding preps.
Why i said this? Well, initially i wanted Fazana Catering or also known as Fazana Wedding House to cater our food. Iāve read sooo many good reviews online on how affordable and good her food is. Plus Nurul Aini used them for her wedding! Even her SIL, Diah Mastura who also happens to be a mummy blogger. So reliability is out of the question!
BUT they are not on social media. And A was quite skeptical on engaging them bcos of the recent wedding vendor scam case.
So after much convincing and pestering, i called Fazana Catering in Jan 2016 to arrange for a food tasting session. Take note that my wedding will be in Feb 2017. She said sheās already fully book for 2016 and 2017.
I was like āWHAAAT? SERIOUSLY CIK?ā
Aiya, what to do? Takde rezeki. So last 2 weeks, A and i went for food tasting sessions with Cahaya Nanie Wedding Services and Nurie Creations. (Please refer to the pictures attached for quotations.
N.Cās food: The taste is there. The desserts are superb! BUT⦠the beef and bee hoon is not tender enough.
N.Cās Deco: Theirās is VERY simple. Iām thinking, for that price? Of course lahhh. She did mentioned if we want a more exclusive or extravagant deco, we will need to top up $2k+++.
N.Cās Customer Service: It wasnāt difficult to reach her to arrange for food tasting. She replied almost immediately. Cik Nuri was really nice and accommodating. It was raining when we arrived and there were like 3 other couples waiting in the line. The other staffs were also welcoming and friendly when we arrived at the wedding.
C.Nās Food: All sooo veryyy the SEDAPPP!!
Especially the sambal goreng pengantin! I think i can sit in front of the tv and eat one huge bowl of that seh. Iām not exaggerating, you have to try it yourself to believe it! Even my parents LOVED the food!
C.Nās Deco: They are popular for their signature Cinderella Carriage pelamin. Sooo pretty kan?! See the pictures attached.
C.Nās Customer Service: It was really difficult to get a hold of them. We waited days and days to get a reply for every msg that we sent, just to arrange for food tasting. I got frustrated and it was Aās turn to text them. Still the same no reply. I complained to my cousin, Kak Fizah and they replied her text. WHAT?
Are you frickkin kidding me???
So after tasting their food, A and I have decided to go with Cahaya Nanie. But i told A that he will be dealing with them as i have no patience to deal with someone like that.
We have already went down to the office to discuss abt the package and put down a deposit of $1.2K.
So the package is $11,200. Minus $500 expo promotion = $10,700
Weāve also decided to add 2 more dishes Sweet & Sour Fish and Sambal Goreng Pengantin for 300 pax which will cost us $1.50 and $2 per pax respectively.
Of course the 100 nasi bungkus is not enough. Since both our sides are big families. So we have also added 400 more nasi bungkus.
For the decor, i really squeezed them dry man! I took what i can get despite only signing up for an economical package.
I told them i wanted their speciality āThe Cinderella Carriageā. I also wanted the flowers on the background of the pelamin and i asked if there will be any additional charges for fairy lights. They said no.
Letās throw that in as well!
Hahahahahaa i knowww i am such a cheapo! Canāt blame me. Everything is so expensive these days.
If someone is giving you something for free, just grab it! Hehehehehehehe
For the colours or theme of the wedding, i chose dark turquoise and silver. This one Iām still doubting if itās too much.
Imagine hundreds of flowers as the pelaminās backdrop, with lots of fairy lights and the star of the decor āThe Cinderella Carriageā. Too much anot? Please someone leave me a comment on what you think kay.
