the thing about the goldfinch is the source material is so good and So Much that fanfics rarely measure up. like i read my share of goldfinch fic back in the day and even wrote a couple but none of it was even close because if you wanna write like donna tartt first you have to cloak everything in 5 layers of description and repression and most fic authors wanna get right to the kissing part
