I received a lovely piece of mail a while back that I’ve been meaning to share here. The large golden envelope revealed an illustrated dishtowel, an audio CD, and a comic book ALL ABOUT Yock (See the above image.) This fantastic comic/food/southern culture art project was created by Chicago-based artists Fereshteh Toosi and Neil Brideau.

I'm still trying to figure this style of video out. And why I've spent so many minutes watching them. This particular video has 15 million views so far. It seems to play with our fascination for those unboxing videos, tiny japanese toys, and cooking shows? I especially like the sizzling sounds from the stove. Nice touch.
I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Kind of entrancing. The egg!
I assume this video was inspired by one of the best animated shorts of all time. Audio reigns!

Zach working with Kate & Josh (butchers and owners of Western Daughters) finalizing and sketching in the exact placement of cuts on our custom animal meat diagrams.
No, this isn't exactly my definition of food media, however this short film viscerally awakened some dormant college memories of cinema exploration. I remember loving this 1966 film Daisies, from the Czech new wave, and specifically this scene in all its frivolous and destructive glory.
