oh, andromeda ADORES people. she loves the idea of having many friends, not so much partners ! friends all the many, lovers reduce to one. she loves the idea of being surrounded by people since her family had hosted so many parties in the past.

i’m definitely using her disownment as the perfect way to describe this.

so, andromeda initially took this VERY harshly. she used to be so haunted by this that it’s kept her awake, which then shifted to the Two Months™️ period. but minerva, what the fuck is that Two Months™️ period i keep talking about ? very glad i get to talk about it again, since it pertains HEAVILY to my answer.

the two months period is when andromeda had basically iced her husband for, well, two months. this was as a result of her guilt of marrying someone like her husband. her thoughts were warped, she isolated herself, rarely came out of her room and refused to make eye contact.  all of it came from the simple fact that she was haunted by adversity when she had a very painful experience.

honestly, over the years, andromeda’s answers have changed A LOT. 

if you asked her before she attended hogwarts, she’d say pleasing her parents, being around her family, the things a little girl finds joy in. if asked during hogwarts, getting good marks in her O.W.L.s in fifth year, once again pleasing her parents, maintaining good social standing in school as well ( normally due to the fact she was from an influential family ).

the shift in what she finds happiness in is when she gets married. there’s a sort of newfound joy when you’re newly married, the idea of someone loving you through sickness and in health, all of the vows. she found happiness in being truly secure with someone, in this case, her husband. as a little girl, andromeda always romanticized marriage and comes with it, so she had VERY high standards — however, marrying someone like ted who was . . . let’s face it: not influential and a muggleborn. she found joy in the little things he did and how loved he made her feel, despite the whole Two Months™️ that happened prior.

then, there’s motherhood. the entire joy of being a mother and teaching her child differently, differently from what she was taught, and making her a much better person brought andromeda plenty of joy. also being there for big milestones like their first crawl, their first word, truly everything about motherhood gave andromeda SO much joy. also just having a child with her husband, something that’s really theirs.
