There is a lot of Hocus Pocus going on in the lab where Eleanor is boiling her ingredients in order to produce just the right shade of red. This #linoleum #flooring from Lilla Änggården was brought in for #restoration treatment. The flooring is a #imitation of a #wooden #parquet, beginning of the twentieth century. Nope it's not a #birds #nest... Ebba is working on a role of #roots. Neatly #bunted together a long, long time ago, probably #iron #age. Presumably intended for some sort of #craft work (suggestions are most welcome). The #stone was found near the bunch of bunted roots and is thought to function as some sort of tool. However it's not clear if the two objects belong together. Meet Leif (nickname #Bone-Leif). As an #osteologist he is the expert on #bones at the #dig at Nya Lödöse, #Gothenburg. Since washing endless amounts of #ceramic #shards from the #middleages gets a bit monotonous after a couple of days, every now and then I'll prop him on a bit of know-how from his field of #expertise. Today he tought me about #medieval #cows. Did you know cows were much smaller back then which made them more #economic (doubling a cow in size gives not the double amount in meat or hides for example? Also, the lower #jaws of a cow have an #irregularity which are #unique for each #individual. Hence only the jaws for each individual will make a #perfect #match (if you want to #count the cows between all the bones). By the way, cows do not have any upper front teeth. I didn't know that, thank you Leif!

Starting of with a pair of shoes made for walking! These slippers, approx. size 41, 18th century, where neatly discarded like this and found by archaeologists from dalarnas museum in Falun. Obviously they where worn down to a degree they where not of use any more and then thrown away. But they make a nice find in the 21st century!
