ok its not that deep but basically for X theyre positioned under his eyes like that to symbolise tears (aka emotion)
Axl's is simply to mimic the scar, but i decided to play around with the idea of him not knowing how he got that scar (prototype testing to see if he can open his face or something like that for extra artillery use or smthn)
Zero is well,, i wanted to make him similar to how the creature Victor from Frankenstein is somewhat shown. its not as obvious but i thought it would be a cool parallel to make lol
