My drawing of a D&D character I would like to play.
It wouldnāt be a D&D playerās character without a tragic backstory, so hereās the tragic backstory I came up for this guy: An isolated tribe of islanders lived on the unknown island, deep within the grand ocean. And they had just cut down their last tree again. "No matter," said the high priest. The islanders would do what they always do in this situation: sacrifice the newest born infant to their bloody god of fertility. As before, their god would then restore trees back to their deforested island. But this did not sit well with the mother of the newest born infant. So in secret, she prayed to an obscure god in the pantheon of the island: the goddess of the dark and the deep. The baby was given up to this strange goddess on the promise that he would be adopted and protected. Without a proper sacrifice, the rest of the islanders perished as their deforested island eventually eroded away into the waves. And so it was that the infant, who was named Roe, became raised at the bottom of the ocean.Ā
However, this goddess was formed by the faith of the islanders, and this human was now the only islander left. Through the child's faith, the goddess of the dark and deep came to resemble Roeās birth-mother in form and personality.Being raised at the bottom of the ocean imbued Roe with a degree of magic power over water. When he got older Roe became worried for the immortal life of his mom/god, since she only had his faith to sustain her. Roe has a strong distaste for priests and organized religion, so he figured heād spread faith through glorious acts of adventure and heroism. Roe is also partial to the idea of becoming famous, so he can get invited to parties and such.
