Commute Jukebox

I still recall with great affection the day that I heard this song pouring out of the speaker on my headset and thought to myself, “What a brilliant, brilliant hold song!”

This one goes out to a special guy.  Someone who has opened my heart and made me believe in love again.

In life it all boils down to finding the one you would walk too close to the fire to be with.  Love is worth the sacrifice.

May all your letting go feel this good.

Sometimes, when you’re driving down the highway toward a destination, you’re thinking about all the little signs he’s given you that he might be into you.  You obsess over it all, and when you get in front of him again, you’re sure you’re going to be much bolder the next time or the time after that.  But you just never could be sure with this guy...and you never got any braver.  This song has that haunting melancholy feeling of the blues that inevitably come when there are too many question marks in our lives.

“We are how we treat each other and nothing more.”

This one takes me back to freshman year of high school.  I may have even listened to it on my discman the last year I rode the school bus.  I’m sure this puts a date on me!

How can you not love?

Someone has taken me by surprise and turned the key in my ignition, so when this song came on today, it was absolutely resonant in my soul.

Today’s commute features a great by Iron & Wine, which is just a couple of days short of being the perfect song for Halloween.  We hope you enjoyed your holiday celebration this past weekend! 

We were lucky enough to discover the band Air Traffic Controller at an outdoor summer concert series we attended a couple of year ago.  They’re a little bit rock ‘n roll, and a little bit indie.  We love when they crop up on our randomized commute jukebox!  If you haven’t heard of them before, check it out!

We always felt that this should have been more of a hit song for La Bouche than it was.  Most people remember “Be My Lover” or “Sweet Dreams” when they think quintessential La Bouche.  But this little gem made quite a splash in our slow jam pool during the commute this morning.

Sometimes we wish our commute involved a downtown train.

The first time I heard this song, I was at the PTA Summer Movie series with my dad and my brother.  I had no idea then what a cult classic hit this movie would become.  Additionally, I would never in a million years have guessed that a sequel would be in the works over 30 years later.
