Dionysus and Ariadne
Their first meeting on the island of Naxos.
Below are some ramblings about the designs and a bit of behind-the-scenes talk about the illustration!
Dionysus (WIP)
This is a piece I’m currently working on, featuring my own design of Dionysus from Greek mythology. I put a lot of my personal taste into it, and my goal was to avoid using red grape colors in the design. (His concept is white grapes, and while I added purple for the shading so it may not be obvious, the original design contains no purple at all.)
Unlike my usual process, I painted this entirely with an airbrush, so I’m glad I ended up liking it. I’ll talk more at length about the design when I post the finished version!
Also, this piece actually shows him together with his human wife, Ariadne. (She’s also a design I created separately.)
Still-life-inspired OC design 1 + my friend’s OC
This is my friend’s OC, which I drew at their request.
This piece is the result of a drawing exercise where I redesign character using still-life objects as motifs. (All images used are copyright-free.) I’ll probably be posting illustrations like this on this blog often.
Thank you in advance!
