Writing: I'm low for both months! BUT we are not going to complain about 14k in May and 14k in June. That's still a bazillion times better than I was doing pre-2024. I would like that number to be higher for July, but I'll take 14k over 0 any month. 🫡 As of today, I'm at 112k for the year, which could be a whole longfic if I had the heart to stay focused on one idea. Alas. In May and June, I mostly worked on the prompts for VLD 10 year fest and something for one of the secret sideblogs. I fear almost 5k was just journaling because I needed that.
Art: Pleasantly surprised to say I have not yet failed my goal of drawing at least once a week. We're finishing week 28 today, and I drew at least once during every one of those.
Fandom interaction: I added one new contributor type thing you'll see later this year, hehehe. I also did a solid chunk of the VLD 10 year fest, and if we're counting july.... I've also done a bit of julance stuff.
Reading: I'm trying to get back into it. I keep thinking if I just get through one more week, suddenly more free time will open up, and this is simply untrue. I am very slowly working on that 😒 but for now, I'm reestablishing the casual goal of reading something every week. This past week's has been Chasing the Limit, which I have needed to get into for months now.
Touching grass: I'm accepting the shortcomings above because I've been touching grass real good. I'm a month into consistently working out for the first time in far too long ✌️I've cooked far more dinners than I've gotten from drive-thrus in the past couple months. I finally caulked the bathroom like I've been saying I would for a couple years now. I'm slowly fixing up my car, starting with fresh new headlights so she looks less ancient. I'm midway through a nice big declutter in my house, and I'm on track to budget for my next big home repair (fixing all the electrical issues 😭) after all the junk is out of my way. Oh, and since the last update, I temporarily got a lot more aggressive on my mortgage, so I officially am down to just $77k on that thing 💪my goal was to have it below $75k by the end of this year and paid off in full by the end of 2032, and we are on trackkkkk, baby. OH, and last money thing! I finally faced one of those big scary things I've been avoiding for a hot minute--sitting down and figuring out my retirement. And now that I have my exact numbers to target, we are looking at retiring by 2047, which looks very far away but feels much closer now that it's a real number. I can so do 21 more years.....
Anyway! I fear touching more grass has been helpful in making my life more tolerable, so I'll probably continue to do that for a bit, which means I'll continue writing less for a bit. To be fair, I have no active inspiration right now. If something is good enough of an idea, it will force me to write it... I know this. So if that happens, I'll be more active again for a bit! But I'm not gonna be upset about it not happening as long as other good things are going on for me 🫡
I am looking at coming back to be more active on Tumblr again even without actively writing very much because I do miss the social interaction. I fear I've tried a couple times before now, and it simply didn't feel like there was much interacting still going on here... but I will try harder, I suppose!
also i fear i am fighting the war between "people can't say yes if you don't try asking" and "everyone has said no to everything for the past several months, so why bother asking"
