Mestre Bimba had created a method to learn Capoeira, the Sequencia da Regional. These basic sequences of attack, defense and counter attack allowed the students to learn the Capoeira game in a controlled and secure manner. The original sequence was formed with 17 movements. Within the sequence each student would execute 154 to 308 movements; helping with conditioning and defined motor skills.
As you travel and visit other academies and groups you may notice differences in the way people do the Sequencia de Regional. Throughout time some instructors have modified the sequencias, yet the basic movements can always be seen within the complete sequencia. As you reach higher levels you may see new variations of the sequencias; as they use these basic movements to train different aspects of the game.

"The sequences should be like breakfast; part of every students daily routine, until they become instinctive".
