Dark red pulsed out from a meager fireplace, doing little to illuminate the massive stone room. Shadows flickered eerily over the tall creature staring at the flames, mirroring the burning in itsâ eyes.
âThe Inquisition is no match for one such as I.â The creature spoke, malformed lips perpetually twisted into a sneer, his voice strange and hypnotic. âThe Anchor may be set, but it is of little matter. This⌠âInquisitorâ cannot hope to stand against me. She is but an elven mortal; nothing to a God.â His voice deepened, his full belief giving the words deep power.
He turned towards the ex-Templar, standing back in the darkness behind him. Lording down from his extreme height, he uttered, âShe will fall when next we meet. Continue with your mission.â
Samson bowed low, a hint of mockery in the gesture. The Magister, expecting such deference as his due, missed it entirely. âMy Lord,â Samson spoke while still inclined, âI know that this Herald is not a rival to you. We all know it.â He looked up here, âHowever, there is something that I would discuss with you.â
